Bakti BCA Encourages Indonesian MSME Products to Go International

Jakarta, 4 March 2024 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is committed to supporting the growth and development of Medium Enterprises, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSME), including exports. Under Bakti BCA program, the bank collaborates with the government to organize the “UMKM Binaan Go Export” program by 2023.

The program presents a series of assistance, starting from export trade training for 60 curated MSMEs in Semarang and Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the Indonesia Export Training Centre (PPEJP) of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade. This training covers various materials to help MSMEs prepare their products for the international market, including improving product quality, identifying potential export markets, understanding export access, and simulating foreign transactions.

Apart from offering training, the “UMKM Binaan Go Export” program also promotes MSME participation in numerous major events, including business matching. One of these efforts was seen in the participation of several assisted MSMEs, including Bakti BCA Villages, at the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2023.

As a result of continuous coaching and mentoring, one of the MSMEs participating in the "UMKM Binaan Go Export" program from Yogyakarta, Wastraloka, has successfully penetrated the export market by selling its products to China. The owner of Wastraloka Eni Anjayani, said she was very grateful to BCA for helping her business penetrate the international market. It was only after BCA’s assistance that Wastraloka managed to export.

"From BCA, we feel very helped. We had previously participated in similar programs held by other institutions, but the results were still indirect exports. When there was an offer from BCA, we committed to be serious, because previously we participated in similar programs, but never went through exports on our own," said Eni Anjayani in a BCA Expoversary 2024 mini studio session entitled “Bakti BCA untuk UMKM Go Export”.

BCA EVP of Commercial & SME Business Freddy Iman said he was very pleased that Wastraloka was able to export, and is currently in the process of repeat orders to China. BCA also assisted Wastraloka in its first export by selling its products to the Indonesian diaspora in Tiongkok called Warisan Roemah Indonesia (WRI).

“BCA also encourages MSMEs to tap into export markets by introducing them to potential markets. One of the efforts is the participation of MSMEs in exhibitions such as Trade Expo Indonesia 2023 and BCA Expoversary 2024. At these events, asissted MSMEs can receive feedback about their products directly from buyers. This enables them to continuously improve the quality or quantity of their products. The goal is to sustainably produce quality products,” said Freddy.

BCA EVP of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn highlighted that alongside the “UMKM Binaan Go Export” program, Bakti BCA also offers guidance to various tourist villages, including promoting MSMEs development within them. These efforts encompass training sessions on financial management and business development strategies, as well as the introduction of marketplaces. Furthermore, the bank actively supports market expansion for MSME products from Bakti BCA Villages, including participation in numerous national and international events such as the celebration of Batik Day at the World Bank headquarters in Washington D.C."

“Through continuous guidance, in 2023, we are grateful that two Bakti BCA Villages, namely Taro Tourism Village and Bilebante Green Tourism Village, were selected to represent Indonesia at the UNWTO 2023 Best Tourism Village event in the Update Program category. Moving forward, we will continue to execute the Bakti BCA master plan, focusing on making a positive impact on the community, environment, culture, and beyond,” stated Hera.
