Under Bakti BCA, BCA is committed to supporting the government’s efforts to prepare the Golden Indonesia 2045 generation. This support includes addressing various challenges, such as those in the health sector. Data from the Heartology Cardiovascular Center indicates that 80,000 babies are born with congenital heart disease in Indonesia each year. Unfortunately, approximately 25 percent of these newborns require significant medical treatment during their first years of life.
Head of BCA Sub-branch Office in Yogyakarta Dovi Kurniawan stated, “The context we've observed has led us to recognize that congenital heart disease in Indonesia remains a major health concern for the public. Consequently, multiple efforts are needed from various stakeholders, including private enterprises. BCA, as a bank deeply connected with the community, is dedicated to enhancing public health quality and advancing medical knowledge within our country. As a result, our support signifies our concrete commitment to aiding in the early detection of congenital heart disease in children”.
In accordance with this, BCA has supplied FK UGM with a 6-Lead KARDIA ECG device to aid in research for early detection of congenital heart disease. This initiative aligns with the Special Region of Yogyakarta Governor's Regulation Number 103 of 2021, which pertains to the Yogyakarta Lestari Healthy Life Movement Regional Action Plan for 2021-2025. To support this endeavor, today, the 6-Lead ECG is being tested on first-grade students at SDN Percobaan 2 Yogyakarta.
The Vice Dean for Cooperation, Alumni, and Community Service at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM, Dr. dr. Sudadi, Sp.An-TI., Subsp.N.An(K), Subsp.An.R(K), along with Professor Dr. dr. Lucia Kris Dinarti, Sp.PD (K), Sp.JP (K), who leads the screening team for congenital heart disease in children and the COHARD-PH (Congenital Heart Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension) team, stated, “On behalf of FK-KMK UGM, BCA's donation will be a valuable asset that supports medical research and education at FK-KMK UGM. We will make the best use of this 6-Lead ECG to train and educate Primary School Health Educators and local health professionals at health centers, enabling them to become more skilled in early detection of congenital heart disease in children. This will help ensure the successful implementation of the congenital heart disease screening program for children, as stipulated in the Regulation of the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.”
BCA, through Bakti BCA, has previously provided various medical equipment and facilities to support healthcare institutions in Indonesia. These include items such as ambulances, LED Operating Lamp Dual Head, Anesthesia 2 Vaporizer Infinium, ICU BED + Ventilator Mattress, and Bedside Monitors, which have been distributed to several hospitals and healthcare organizations like SPBK Perdami and the Indonesian Red Cross. Moreover, BCA regularly conducts social outreach programs, such as free cataract surgeries, blood donation drives, and free health check-ups.
“Our hope is that with early detection of congenital heart disease, medical treatment and care will become more precise. BCA also hopes that this support can have a sustained positive impact on public health,” concluded Head of BCA Sub-branch Office in Yogyakarta Dovi Kurniawan.
