Yogyakarta, 20 October 2023 - Indonesia has been experiencing a demographic bonus since 2015, and the highest points are expected to be reached between 2020 and 2035 (Central Bureau of Statistics, 2023). This condition presents a great opportunity for Indonesia to optimize the demographic bonus in order to achieve its development goals, especially in its efforts to realize the Indonesia Emas 2045.
In order to optimize this, access to quality education is required to produce excellent human resources as the future generation of development. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) through its CSR program under Bakti BCA introduces Semarak Literasi “Menyulam Cerita: Jelajahi Dunia Melalui Kata” program as an initiative to enhance students’ literacy skills.
Semarak Literasi’s opening ceremony on Wednesday (18/10) was attended by BCA Vice President of CSR Krisbiakto Cahyo Adi, Substance Group for Students and Character Building for Primary Schools of Gunungkidul Educational Office Wasgiyanta, S.E., M.M., Head of Gunungkidul Secondary Educational Office Tukiman S.Pd, M.T., Head of Language Center of Yogyakarta Dra. Dwi Pratiwi, M.Pd., and Head of BCA Sub-branch Office in Wonosari FX. Sani Bayuningrum.
“The young generation represents the future of our nation, and quality education serves as the fundamental building block for nurturing future leaders to be able to compete on the global stage. To celebrate Language Month, we are organizing “Semarak Literasi” as a part of BCA’s commitment to improve the quality of education and enhance literacy skills among students in Indonesia,” stated BCA Vice President of CSR Krisbiakto Cahyo Adi.
To mark the beginning of Semarak Literasi held at SMAN 1 Karangmojo in Gunungkidul, this program consists of a series of events. It starts with the Student and Teacher Literacy Workshop, is followed by the Literacy Competition, and concludes with the Literacy Festival. Carrying the spirit of #CanDoGeneration, Semarak Literasi is a national-scale program that will also take place in several other cities, including DKI Jakarta, Serang, Lampung, and Jayapura, with the goal of reaching more than 2000 participants.
“With the start of the Semarak Literasi event series, I express my gratitude to BCA for their support in enhancing the literacy skills of students in this region. This program will undoubtedly positively impact students’ lives by nurturing an interest in reading and the learning process,” expressed Head of Language Center of Yogyakarta Dra. Dwi Pratiwi, M.Pd.
In its implementation in several regions in Indonesia, this initiative not only creates quality education but also serves as a bridge connecting all parties in a joint effort to establish a more inclusive education ecosystem. Semarak Literasi is BCA’s contribution to building a higher quality education ecosystem, while providing hope and opportunities for the younger generation to fully realize their potential.
“To maximize the impact and ensure sustainability, we collaborate with various stakeholders, including the government, educational institutions, and literacy advocates in each region.
