Semarang,12 May 2020 – As part of the national banking sector, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to continuously contribute in the alleviation and prevention of the spread of the Covid-19.
After donating to several referral hospitals/health facilities, the government and various other independent institutions/organizations not too long ago, with a total donation value more than Rp13 billion. Now, as a form of empathy and solidarity especially to those who have been financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the employees of BCA & Bakti BCA initiated an internal fundraiser, collected from April-May, managed to raise a donation fund of Rp1 billion.
The donation was symbolically submitted by the Head of BCA Regional Office II Gunawan Prayogo accompanied by the Head of Regional Operations Development of BCA Regional Office II Tjia Irawan to the head of Kembangsari Village Eniarti, chairman of Wayang Orang Ngesti Pandowo Djoko Mulyono, and a representative of Pondok Boro Semarang Rochimah at BCA KCU Semarang, Tuesday (12/05). Also attending the ceremony was the Head of BCA KCU Semarang Lie Hendra and Head of KCU Gang Tengah Hianie.
“Amid today’s Covid-19 pandemic, it is important for us to help each other. Besides helping the government and medical professionals, we must also help the affected communities to rise and fight against the adversities. This has encouraged the employees of BCA to do fundraiser as a form of solidarity and humanity. We are very pleased to be able to provide value added to the community, especially those around our Regional Office II,” said Gunawan.
The initiative raised Rp1 billion which will be converted into 10,000 food staple packages, containing basic foods such as rice, instant noodles, soy sauce, cooking oil, canned corned beef, canned sardines, and also personal hygiene essentials such as soap and cloth face masks.
All of the items are then put together in a goodie bag that also includes educational infographics on coronavirus preventive measures. These goodie bags will be distributed in stages to 12 BCA regional offices all across Indonesia, including KCU Aceh and KCU Jayapura, taking into account various aspects of health protocols established by the government and WHO.
“We hope that the assistance is appropriate and beneficial to the recipients. BCA’s contribution to Covid-19 handling and alleviation in Indonesia will continue until the pandemic subsides. May things will recover promptly and we all can go back to our normal activities,” said Gunawan.
