Bogor, 5 August 2020 – As one of the financial institutions in Indonesia, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is committed to supporting the education in conjunction with the aim of contributing to the advancement of the intellectual life of the people. BCA realizes its commitment through scholarships and general lectures conducted at several public universities in Indonesia. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Bakti BCA organizes a virtual public lecture. This time, the public lecture is organized for the students of Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) and the Bakti BCA grantees academic year of 2019 – 2020 from 18 public universities.
The public lecture entitled “Striving for Excellence During New Normal” featured Deputy President Director of BCA Armand W Hartono as a keynote speaker, accompanied by EVP CSR of BCA Inge Setiawati, Head of Regional Office IX Djoko R. Mijaata, and Head of KCU Bogor Vincentius Dwi Anto Kusdiyono. Also attending as speaker at the second session was the President Commissioner of Binar Grup Julianto Eka Putra. The virtual public lecture was held on Wednesday (05/08) and was opened by the Rector of IPB Prof. Dr. Arif Satria.
“Education is a key pillar in building quality human resources. In the midst of today’s rapid technological development, students must take advantage of this advantage to support hard skill and soft skill learning. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Indonesian youths are required to be creative and innovative in their pursuit of education and continue to zealously seek for new knowledge and experience,” said Armand.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, face-to-face programs are limited in accordance with health protocols recommended by the government and WHO. Armand added that digitalization is becoming the mainstay for various virtual activities. Some jobs are now being taken over by machines. As a consequence, the quality standards of human resources in the new normal must also be improved to be able to compete in global stage.
"Knowledge is not exclusively derived from formal education. In fact, we will continue to learn and acquire new knowledge throughout our lives. Today’s public lecture is expected to provide education and motivation for you to continue studying and take advantage of the opportunities to achieve your goals now or in the future,” Armand concluded.
