Jakarta, 12 May 2020 – As part of national banking, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to continuously contribute to the alleviation and prevention of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Not too long ago, BCA distributed donation to a number of referral hospitals/health facilities, the government and various other independent institutions/organizations, with a total donation value more than Rp13 billion. Now, as a form of empathy and solidarity especially to those who have been financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the employees of BCA & Bakti BCA initiated an internal fundraiser, collected from April-May, managed to raise a donation fund of Rp1 billion.
The donation was symbolically submitted by a representative of BCA employees, accompanied by President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja, EVP CSR BCA Inge Setiawati to Lurah (village head) of Kebon Melati Tanah Abang Winetrin at Menara BCA (12/5).
President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja appreciated the fundraising movement initiated by BCA employees. “I am proud and moved by the empathy and high concern of BCA’s employees for others as seen today. The spirit of #AlwaysByYourSide and #OneBCA have encouraged thousands of BCA employees to help others in need. This is a form of solidarity that needs to spread among the people, that we are not alone in facing this pandemic. We are all together in this battle,” said Jahja.
The initiative raised Rp1 billion which will be converted into 10,000 food staple packages, containing basic foods such as rice, instant noodles, soy sauce, cooking oil, canned corned beef, canned sardines, and also personal hygiene essentials such as soap and cloth face masks.
All of the items are then put together in a goodie bag that also include educational infographics on coronavirus preventive measures. These goodie bags will be distributed in stages to 12 BCA regional offices all across Indonesia, taking into account various aspects of health protocols established by the government and WHO.
EVP CSR BCA Inge Setiawati added that the food staple packages will be distributed in stages at the Headquarter Office and 12 Regional Offices in collaboration with the National Armed Forces. “We are fully aware that we must be precautious about the distribution of these packages. We must pay attention to safety aspects and refer to health protocols, so we are working with the National Armed Forces in doing so. We hope that the distribution of these staple food packages will run smoothly and can help reduce the burden on the people who have been financially affected in this difficult time,” Inge concluded.
