Sijunjung, 8 April 2023 - Perkampungan Adat Nagari Sijunjung, a community fostered by PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), has successfully become one of the 75 nominees for the Best Village Tourism Destination in Indonesia according to the Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia (ADWI) 2023 after competing with 4,573 other tourist villages. BCA believes that the historical and practical experience in developing tourism villages in Indonesia has helped Perkampungan Adat Sijunjung become an economic driver for the community in Nagari Sijunjung.
The scoringand reviewing of the Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village was conducted by the jury on March 30, 2023, followed by a visitation by the Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia on April 1, 2023. The visitation to the Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village was attended by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Vice Governor of West Sumatra Audy Joinaldy, Regent of Sijunjung Benny Dwifa Yuswir, Vice Regent of Sijunjung H. Iraddatillah, as well as the Head of BCA KCU Padang Robert Siahaan.
"We will provide more intensive assistance and mentoring to the Nagari Sijunjung Indigenous Village. We hope that this achievement will create tourism appeal in Padang and increase global awareness of the unique culture of Minangkabau. We thank the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for providing the opportunity for one of Bakti BCA's fostered tourism villages, Nagari Sijunjung Indigenous Village, to be nominated for the Best Tourism Village award in the 2023 Indonesian Tourism Village Awards (Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia - ADWI)," stated Robert Siahaan.
Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village reflects the authenticity of the unique matrilineal Minangkabau society. The village boasts 76 rumah gadang, which symbolize the maternal lineage and clan. Tourists who choose the homestay package can experience a unique stay by sleeping on top of a traditional presentation of rice stacks.
"We would like to express our appreciation to all the administrators of the Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village who have worked hard to develop the village. We also extend our thanks to the local government for their continuous support and to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for initiating the ADWI program that has created a momentum for the revival of tourism and creative economy in Indonesia," said Robert.
Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is organizing the Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia or ADWI, an annual competition. Out of a total of 7,275 tourism villages in Indonesia (according to data from KemendesPDTT), 4,573 have been selected to participate in the ADWI 2023. The ADWI 2023 activities have gone through various curation stages by the jury panel. The curation process began with the selection of the top 500 tourism villages, which were then narrowed down to the top 300, and finally selected 75 top tourism villages.
"BCA will continue to provide the best support in developing the potential and enhancing the socio-economic growth of the Bakti BCA fostered villages. We hope that the presence of ADWI can boost the country's economy and elevate villages in Indonesia as world-class tourist destinations with global competitiveness, especially the Bakti BCA fostered tourism villages," Robert concluded.
