Genera-Z Berbakti 2026 Introduces a New Format to Challenge and Surprise Finalists

Jakarta, 27 June 2026Genera-Z Berbakti, Bakti BCA's annual call-for-proposals program for university students, returns in 2026 with a brand-new judging format. Most participants had prepared for the competition based on the previous year's edition. However, the revamped format challenged all eight finalists to quickly adapt and develop the best strategy to convince the judging panel that their proposed programs for Bakti BCA's assisted tourism villages are feasible, impactful, and ready for implementation.

To earn the opportunity to implement their ideas in the selected villages, finalists had to navigate three rigorous stages before a distinguished panel of judges consisting of Bakti BCA Ambassador Nicholas Saputra, entertainer and sociopreneur Cinta Laura Kiehl, and scientist and social entrepreneur Tri Mumpuni.

The first stage, Idea Pitch, gave each finalist 10 minutes to present their proposed program. This was followed by the Think Tank round, where finalists had just 60 seconds to answer questions from the judges. If a judge responded or challenged their answer, finalists were given an additional 30 seconds to reply. The final stage, Head-to-Head, allowed finalists to debate one another, ask and answer questions, defend their ideas, and test the strength of their proposed programs.

Unlike the previous edition, Genera-Z Berbakti 2026 introduced a new rule: each competition stage, Idea Pitch, Think Tank, and Head-to-Head, had to be represented by a different team member. This ensured that every member of each finalist team had an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities before both the judges and fellow competitors.

The unexpected rule caught many finalists by surprise, including Tessa from DESA HIDUP, representing UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. "At first, I was overwhelmed and extremely nervous. But I tried my best to keep smiling. The moment I'm most proud of was when I was able to speak confidently, answer the judges' questions, and connect all of my responses in a way that I thought was meaningful," said Tessa.

A similar sentiment was shared by Laskar Selasik from Universitas Gadjah Mada. "Honestly, I was quite nervous from the beginning and even thought about asking whether someone else could take my place. But eventually, I stopped worrying about whether my answers were right or wrong. My only focus was to deliver our presentation as clearly as possible," said Faruq, one of the team's members.

Behind the intense competition and high-pressure atmosphere lies a bigger purpose. Through Genera-Z Berbakti 2026, Bakti BCA aims to encourage university students to develop innovative ideas that are practical, impactful, and ready to be implemented in the assisted tourism villages.

"We believe all eight finalists possess extraordinary potential. Now is their opportunity to prove it. We are confident that the new final-round format of Genera-Z Berbakti 2026 will help each finalist showcase their unique strengths, which they can later build upon when implementing their ideas in the selected villages," said Hera F. Haryn, BCA EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility.

Four out of the eight finalist teams will be selected to implement their proposed programs in four Bakti BCA assisted tourism villages: Desa Wisata Kreatif Terong in Belitung Regency, Desa Wisata Situs Gunung Padang in Cianjur Regency, Desa Wisata Patakbanteng in Wonosobo Regency, and Desa Wisata Kakaskasen Dua in Tomohon City.

"My advice to the finalist teams is to keep their proposals simple. It's better to solve problems gradually, one step at a time, rather than trying to do everything at once and ending up with a system that is neither realistic nor sustainable," said entertainer and sociopreneur Cinta Laura Kiehl.
