BCA Supports the Indonesia Banking Expo (IBEX) 2019

Jakarta, 6 November 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia (Tbk) and the banking industry support the Indonesia Banking Expo (IBEX) 2019, which is organized by the Indonesian Banks Association (PERBANAS). This time, the event will highlight the theme Consolidate to Elevate”. 

Attending to open the event was the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Airlangga Hartarto, Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Suahasil Nazara, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Sugeng, Deputy Commissioner of Banking Surveillance of the OJK Boedi Armanto. President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja attended the event as a speaker among others in Jakarta, Wednesday (06/11). Jahja talked about the growth of banking transactions at BCA and the increasing volume of digital transactions. Furthermore, he also talked about the prospect for the development of the Indonesian banking industry in 2025, including in the face of digitalization transformation and financial technology (fintech) and other non-bank financial institution. 

Jahja explained that in the era of smart technology today, it takes innovation to create an array of digital products (whether it is a good or a service) and solutions. This can be accomplished by promoting development and empowerment both human resources and the physical aspect. “It is important to continue carrying out digital transformation solutions in order to accommodate customer needs as well as the public, more specifically the millennials in today’s digital era. That’s why BCA presents digital products such as internet and mobile banking, and various applications, features, non-cash payment instruments, including Flazz BCA, Sakuku, and other features such as QRku, OneKlik BCA, BCA Keyboard, Open Savings Account Online, and Cardless feature on BCA mobile

As of the third quarter of 2019, BCA’s performance has shown solid and sustainable growth. This is reflected in the increase in net profit by 13.0% YoY to Rp20.9 trilion. In line with the Bank’s loan growth, net interest income increased 12.2% YoY to Rp37.4 trillion. Non-interest income grew 19.3% YoY to Rp15.0 trillion, driven by increasing fees & commissions and trading income. 

The preeminence in transaction banking continued to support BCA in growing Current Accounts and Savings Accounts (CASA) as its core funds. BCA recorded a 10.4% growth of total third party funds to reach Rp683.1 trillion with CASA contributed 75.2% of the total. CASA grew 7.6% YoY to Rp513.9 trillion on the back of strong increase in number of transactions particularly in e-channels. In the meantime, time deposits increased 19.7% YoY to Rp169.2 trillion.

“BCA is focusing on maintaining solid liquidity, capital position and loan quality to sustain business performance. The Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) were recorded at healthy levels of 23.8% and 80.6% respectively. Return on Assets (ROA) came in at 4.0%. Therefore, we will continue to grow the business prudently by closely monitoring the environment and optimizing opportunities. As the banking industry in Indonesia, the Bank BCA will remain open minded and adapts to the changing customer behaviour to stay relevant in this dynamic financial industry,” added Jahja.  

The Indonesia Banking Expo (IBEX), organized by the Indonesian Banks Association (PERBANAS), has been held 7 times since 2011. Through IBEX 2019, the forum serves as a platform to recommend policies to the government and regulators related to the banking industry, banking consolidation, and fintech business to create a robust financial ecosystem in the future. This is event is not an exclusive forum for the banking industry, but also include insurance, multi-finance, payment and fintech companies.

The event is initiated by the Indonesian Banks Association (PERBANAS) and held in Jakarta, Wednesday (06/11). Jahja Setiaatmadja talked about the growth of banking transactions at BCA and the increasing volume of digital transactions including the use of BCA mobile that offers various features and functions such as QRku, BCA Keyboard, Open New Accounts Online, and Cardless feature.
