Protect Customers from Financial Risks Due to Critical Illness, BCA Life and BCA Launch STAR Product

Jakarta, December 17, 2024 - PT Asuransi Jiwa BCA (BCA Life) in collaboration with PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) proudly announces the launch of the Safety Guard Critical Cover (STAR) product. This product is a traditional critical illness insurance that provides protection against 135 critical illness conditions and life protection. The Sum Assured ranges from Rp500 million to Rp2 billion.

The STAR launch was held at Menara BCA, Jakarta, on Monday (16/12), attended by BCA Director Haryanto T. Budiman and BCA Life President Director Christine W. Setyabudhi. Also attending the event were BCA Director Frengky Chandra Kusuma, EVP Wealth Management BCA Indrawan B., and BCA Life Director Eva Agrayani Tjong.

STAR is a part of BCA Life and BCA's commitment to provide protection solutions for the people of Indonesia. This product offers financial protection from the risk of critical illness and life to self, spouse and family. The launch of STAR also addresses the rising trend in critical illness cases in Indonesia, such as cancer, stroke, heart attack, diabetes, and kidney failure.

According to data from the Indonesian Health Profile 2023, released by the Ministry of Health, critical illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and cancer demand significant treatment costs. Until the end of 2023, heart disease recorded the highest financing in National Health Insurance (JKN) services with a total of IDR 17.63 trillion, with more than 20 million cases financed. Therefore, having critical illness insurance protection is crucial to help reduce the significant financial burden.

Through the STAR product, we provide a relevant protection solution amidst the increasing trend of critical illness in Indonesia. Moreover, STAR products also have a no claim bonus feature, which can be utilized by customers if no claims occur every 10-year period.”

STAR benefits include:

  • Critical Illness Diagnosis Benefit, Protection for 135 insured critical illness conditions begins for the first time after the 80-day Waiting Period within the Coverage Period. This benefit is divided into “Minor Critical Illness Diagnosis Benefit” of 25% of the Sum Insured (maximum 2 times for different illnesses during the Coverage Period), and “Major Critical Illness Diagnosis Benefit” of 100% of the Sum Insured minus the accumulated benefits paid (if any) and then the policy ends;
  • Angioplasty Surgery Benefit, 25% of the Sum Assured with a maximum of Rp250 million;
  • ICU Care Benefit, 50% of the Sum Assured with a maximum of Rp250 million, provided that the Insured undergoes treatment in the ICU continuously for at least 7 calendar days due to the insured Critical Illness;
  • Death Benefit,amounting to 100% of the Sum Assured, minus any accumulated benefits that have already been paid.if any);
  • No Claim Bonus benefit, 100% of the total premium paid (excluding Extra Premium) at the end of each 10-year period if there is no claim.

The entry age for Policyholders is from 21 to 65 years old and for the Insured is from 1 to 65 years old. This product is also valid anywhere and without location restrictions, so it is expected to accommodate the financial protection needs of Indonesian families comprehensively.
