Jakarta, 20 July 2016 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (IDX: BBCA) and its subsidiaries released the first half of 2016 financial results with a net profit increase of 12.1% to Rp 9.6 trillion from Rp 8.5 trillion in the same period last year. The Bank’s operating income, consisting of net interest income and non-interest income, grew 15.5% to Rp 26.1 trillion in the first half of 2016 from Rp 22.6 trillion in the first half of 2015.
BCA’s President Director, Mr. Jahja Setiaatmadja, noted that, “BCA achieved positive results through prudent lending and active management of third party funds. The Bank once again proved its strong position in transaction banking as reflected by the growing balance of transactional accounts, current and savings accounts (CASA), during Idul Fitri. Solid CASA growth and reduced cost of funds allowed BCA to maintain a healthy net interest margin even with reduction in interest rates across lending segments.”
Outstanding loans totaled Rp 387.0 trillion at the end of June 2016 for an 11.5% YoY increase led by corporate lending which saw a 19.6% YoY growth to Rp 135.4 trillion. Commercial and Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) loans posted a growth of 6.5% YoY to Rp 146.5 trillion, while consumer lending grew 9.1% YoY to Rp 105.2 trillion due to the Bank’s competitive lending products. Mortgages and vehicle loans grew 8.5% YoY to Rp 61.7 trillion and 11.4% YoY to Rp 34.0 trillion respectively. Credit card loans outstanding increased to Rp 9.5 trillion, up 5.5% YoY.
BCA’s Non-Performing Loans (NPL) ratio increased to 1.4% at the end of June 2016, compared to 0.7% posted in June 2015 in the midst of slowing economic growth. The NPL ratio remains within the set risk appetite limits. In the first half of 2016, BCA booked an additional loan provision of Rp 2.0 trillion to sustain ample loan loss reserves. As of June 2016, the ratio of reserves to non-performing loans stood at 193.0%. BCA proactively maintained a solid liquidity position and capital base. At the end of June 2016, the Loan to Funding Ratio (LFR) stood at 77.9%, while the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) reached 20.3%.
Third party funds grew 7.8% YoY to Rp 490.6 trilion at the end of June 2016 driven by growth in Current and Savings Accounts (CASA). CASA deposits increased 10.2% YoY to reach Rp 381.3 trillion, contributing 77.7% to the Bank’s total third party funds at the end of June 2016. Savings accounts grew 12.6% YoY to Rp 260.9 trillion, while current accounts increased 5.4% YoY to a total of Rp 120.4 trillion. Time deposits were relatively stable at Rp 109.3 trillion.
