Appreciating the Role of Teachers Nationally, BCA Presents Inspirational Webinar “Great Teacher in Hybrid Learning”

Jakarta, December 14, 2021 – The existence of COVID-19 pandemic all over the world has affected many aspects of life, including education. In Indonesia, currently the learning process must be carried out in two methods, offline and online. The online learning method is one that gets more attention from a lot of people because it requires special concentration. Based on that, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BCA) gave the highest appreciation for educators in order to commemorate National Teacher's Day last November.

As an appreciation, BCA held the 2021 National Teacher's Day Webinar – Act with Heart, Restore Education for educators with the theme of “Great Teachers in Hybrid Learning” on Tuesday (14/12). This webinar was opened by BCA President Director, Jahja Setiaatmadja, followed by opening remarks by the Indonesian Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Makarim. This webinar presented Founder of Masyarakat Pendidikan Sejati (True Education Community) Prof. Dr. Gede Raka and Founder & CEO @jurusanku Ina Liem and ended by BCA EVP of CSR Inge Setiawati.

“BCA as part of education in Indonesia is synergizing with the government to create a successful education in Indonesia. We recognize the role of teachers as leaders of this nation’s future leaders, so this kind of support is an obligation that must be done. Today's webinar is one of the supports from BCA, especially for the Kemendikbudristek program in order to commemorate 2021 National Teacher’s Day - Act With Heart, Restore Education," said Jahja.

Distance Learning, which is currently a method applied to keep teaching and learning activities going, is being carried out with great effort by the educators. BCA is aware of this, thereby presenting appreciation and providing encouragement in the form of information and knowledge as a provision for the implementation of hybrid learning. This activity is also a support for the campaign carried out by the government to support educators in Indonesia.

“Distance education is not a long-term solution, because the learning process cannot be carried out optimally. For this reason, we undertake a limited learning system with a hybrid system using technology. However, the role of the teachers cannot be replaced because no technology can replace the role of you as educators, who encourage student development in terms of cognitive and character maturity," said Nadiem.

In this webinar which was attended by more than 900 schools from 135 cities in 32 provinces, as well as more than 15,000 teachers, the speakers inspired educators to apply open mind teaching methods to make students ready to face the developments of the VUCA era (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity). In addition, through this webinar, educators are also encouraged to identify the characteristics of students dominated by Z and Alpha Generations with the aim of adapting an effective teaching style.

For information, last year BCA also successfully held a webinar to commemorate 2020 National Teacher's Day which was attended by 740 schools from 40 cities, as well as more than 5,000 teachers. On that occasion, BCA also held a writing competition to encourage and motivate young generation and educators for learning in the midst of a pandemic.

“Our highest respect goes to all educators in Indonesia who have struggled in providing knowledge even though the situation is not okay. We hope that this positive activity can have a good impact for all educators. In the future, we will also try to provide a variety of other useful programs for education in Indonesia," concluded Inge.
