PT Bank Central Asia Tbk First Half 2018 Results : Maintaining a Solid Performance

  • 14.2% YoY loan growth supported by corporate and commercial & SME loans
  • Transaction accounts, CASA, grew 12.7% YoY, representing 78.2% of total third party funds

Jakarta, 26 July 2018 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (IDX: BBCA) and its subsidiaries reported consolidated financial results for the first half of 2018. The Bank’s balance sheet recorded a healthy growth. BCA’s loan portfolio increased 14.2% YoY to Rp 494 trillion; current accounts and savings accounts (CASA) grew 12.7% YoY to Rp 481 trillion. 

BCA’s President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja, noted that, “BCA recorded positive loan growth in the first half of 2018, in line with our customers’ increased business activities during Idul Fitri holiday,”

At the end of June 2018, the Bank’s loan portfolio stood at Rp 494 trillion, an increase of 14.2% compared to the same period last year. Corporate loans grew 19.1% YoY to Rp 191.4 trillion, while the commercial and SME segment increased 15.1% YoY to Rp 174.8 trillion. Consumer lending grew 6.0% YoY to Rp 128.2 trillion. Within the consumer segment, mortgages rose 4.0% YoY to Rp 74.6 trillion and vehicle loans grew 8.1% YoY to reach Rp 41.3 trillion. In the same period, credit card loans outstanding balances posted YoY growth of 10.8% YoY to Rp 12.3 trillion.

BCA posted a Non-Performing Loans (NPL) ratio of 1.4% at the end of June 2018, comfortably within the Bank’s risk appetite limits. The ratio of total allowance to NPL (loan loss coverage) stood at 187.8%. The Bank maintained healthy liquidity and a strong capital position with a Loan to Funding Ratio (LFR) of 77.0% and a Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) of 22.8% as of 30 June 2018.

Customer trust in BCA’s transaction banking business supported CASA growth, driving an overall increase in third party funds. CASA increased 12.7% YoY to Rp 481.3 trillion and remained a major contributor to the Bank’s funding base, comprising 78.2% of total third party funds at the end of June 2018. Within total CASA, savings accounts grew 13.2% YoY to Rp 315.1 trillion while current accounts increased 11.8% YoY to a total of Rp 166.2 trillion. Time deposits stood at Rp 134.3 trillion or a decline of 7.6% YoY. Despite the YoY decrease, time deposits increased compared to March 2018, in line with increasing time deposit rates. At the end of June 2018, third party funds registered YoY growth of 7.6%, attaining Rp 615.6 trillion.

BCA closed the first half of 2018 with net profit growth of 8.4% YoY to Rp 11.4 trillion compared to Rp 10.5 trillion in the same period last year. The Bank’s operating income as a total of net interest income and non-interest income grew 7.6% to Rp 29.5 trillion during the semester compared to Rp 27.4 trillion recorded in the first half of 2017.
