Fraudsters usually try to benefit from Ramadan and Eid Fitr holidays by doing fraud attempts, including using online media. Many customers are unaware and fail to recognize these frauds.

- Online Shopping Voucher Scam
Online shopping voucher scam usually happens through WhatsApp app. Scammers would send you a link for Ramadan/Eid Fitr discount voucher and you are expected to click the link to obtain your discount voucher.
When you click the link, you will be directed to a page that requires you to fill in some personal data. If you receive a WhatsApp message containing a link from an unknown number, please ignore it.
This type of scam can be deceiving, especially if you receive links from a WhatsApp number using the name of bank, e-commerce, etc.
BCA’s official WhatsApp number is 08111500998 with a green badge. If you see a different number with no green badge, that is a fake WA number.

- Online loan scam
There is also a scam that offers you an online loan via SMS or other channel. Despite the wide popularity of this scam for a long time, many people still got deceived by it.
The message sent to the victim usually contains an online loan offer, quick to approve, and with a high loan value. Many people, due to their Ramadan dan Eid Fitr holiday bonus (THR) needs, fall for it.
The fraudsters usually give the victim a fake link to ask for personal data, such as bank account, ID card, ATM numbers, PIN, and the One-Time Password (OTP) code.

- Holiday bonus raffle scam
Another online scam method is fraudsters telling you that you won a prize from a holiday bonus (THR) raffle by phone or other channel. Even though it is a classic type of scam, many people still fall into the same hole.
Fraudsters usually claim to be coming from banks, e-commerces, or digital wallet providers to tell the victim s/he just won cash/Ramadan/Eid Fitr THR prizes which would be transferred to the victim’s bank/digital wallet account.
You would usually be asked to share your active phone number as registered in your digital wallet, bank account numbers, ID card, ATM numbers or OTP code. That is why you should never share your personal data, including OTP code, to anyone.

- Data update scam
The fourth type of scam is where fraudsters use data update as a reason to trick you. Fraudsters would typically send the victim an email or other channel containing a fake link resembling BCA’s website. If the victim clicks the link, s/he will be asked to login and enter their personal data, such as username, password, credit/debit card number, PIN, etc.
This scam will pretend to do data update for your bank or online shop accounts. Victims would be urged to update their data, otherwise their account/credit card/online shop/digital wallet accounts would be blocked immediately. This is phishing or an attempt to steal personal data to allow fraudsters to access the victim’s digital wallet, bank account, mobile banking, or credit card.
To avoid such scam, you need to recognize BCA’s official email, never click on any link that you received, and never share your personal data to anyone.
