Wonosobo, 11 June 2026 - The charm of the Dieng plateau seems endless. One of its beautiful gems can be found in Patakbanteng Tourism Village in Kabupaten Wonosobo, Central Java. In this village, a harmony between the beauty of nature and the sincerity of the local culture is embodied. This fascinating destination at the Prau Mountain slope is now officially introduced as the latest tourism village fostered by Bakti BCA.
The village’s commitment to environmental sustainability and tourists’ safety has brought the village to the big 50 of the Anugerah Desa Wisata (ADWI) 2024 from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf). Moreover, Patakbanteng Tourism Village was also placed first in the category of Resilience in the same award.
After the ADWI 2024, PT Bank Central Asia (BCA) then partnered with the Kemenparekraf to provide further guidance to Patakbanteng Village. This was aligned with BCA’s commitment in supporting Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly through the Bakti BCA programme.
BCA EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn explains that Patakbanteng Village has a major potential. “BCA is committed to increase the tourism appeal and to sustainably accelerate the local economy. Therefore, we are constantly pushing all the Desa Bakti BCA to emphasise their unique characteristics. Through the strategy of comprehensive mentoring, ranging from coaching, human resources capacity building, to market access expansion, we want to ensure that every fostered village can advance to be an excellent and empowered community,” said Hera.
This year, Patakbanteng Village was also chosen to be one of the locations for the Genera-z Berbakti 2026 program. This program is a call for proposal aimed at university students to conduct community service activities in the selected Bakti BCA’s fostered villages. Throughout the month of July 2026, one of the student groups selected as a winner will do a live in and implement social innovation for the village’s progress.

Witnessing the Tradition and the Local Wisdom of Patakbanteng Village
Beyond its natural beauty, Patakbanteng Village holds a rich cultural heritage that is still alive and preserved by its people. One of its most prominent traditions is the Baritan Terang Bulan (Bright Moon Light), a traditional ceremony held every Suro month on the 10th night of the Javanese calendar. This tradition expresses gratitude for the harvest and prays for the safety and well-being of the village.
The village also maintains the Patak Lengger Dance, a traditional dance that is part of the local community's cultural identity. This dance is regularly performed at various traditional events and cultural festivals as an expression of joy and gratitude, and reflects the strong values of togetherness and spirituality within the Patakbanteng Village community.
A visit to Patakbanteng wouldn't be complete without bringing home a taste of local produce from local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Taking advantage of the fertile volcanic soil of Dieng, local entrepreneurs have successfully blended the endemic mountain papaya (carica) into a refreshing, internationally renowned sweet.
Furthermore, the cool air of the slopes of Mount Prau has also given rise to the creation of a traditional herbal drink made from the purwoceng plant (Pimpinella pruatjan). Known as "Javanese Ginseng," this drink is known for warming the body, increasing vitality, and improving blood circulation.
Finally, Dieng offers a superior commodity: potatoes, which are processed into snacks. These yellow potatoes from the highlands have a low water content and a soft texture. Thanks to their durability and durability when cooked, they are ideal for processing into chips, potato cakes, potato mustofa, and other traditional snacks.
