In 2023, Bukit Peramun was officially designated as Indonesia’s first community-based digital forest by the Indonesian World Records Museum
Jakarta, 10 May 2026 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) reaffirmed its commitment to Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the Desa Bakti BCA initiative. This initiative aligns with the principle of creating shared value and is dedicated to improving community well-being through various empowerment programs.
BCA’s EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility, Hera F. Haryn, explained that BCA’s contributions to the Bakti BCA initiative are part of ongoing efforts to boost tourism appeal while simultaneously strengthening the local SME economy around tourist destinations. Beyond providing guidance, Bakti BCA ensures that the villages it supports can advance to become self-reliant communities.
This initiative is evident in the Bakti BCA Villages located in the Province of Bangka Belitung, including Bukit Peramun and Terong Creative Tourism Village. These two villages have proven to be popular tourist destinations due to their unique characteristics, which ultimately attract tourists.
“We always encourage the villages that are part of the Bakti BCA program to highlight their unique characteristics. We hope our support will make a positive contribution to the local economy and bring the greatest possible benefits to the community,” said Hera.
Enjoying the South China Sea at Bukit Peramun
Bukit Peramun has been a Bakti BCA Village since 2018. Located at the center of the Belitung tourism triangle—which includes Tanjung Pandan City, the Tanjung Kelayang Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and H.A.S. Hanandjoeddin Airport—Bukit Peramun offers an authentic nature tourism experience. At an elevation of 129 meters above sea level, this area features panoramic views of pristine natural forests, expanses of Belitung’s signature granite rocks, as well as vistas of the South China Sea and the surrounding archipelago of small islands.
Bukit Peramun is easily accessible by private vehicle. It is approximately 20 kilometers from the center of Tanjung Pandan, and about 22 kilometers from H.A.S. Hanandjoeddin Airport.
Since 2006, Bukit Peramun has been independently managed by the local community through the Arsel Community Forest group. Then, in 2017, the area began opening to tourists under a community-based tourism concept, which prioritizes the principles of sustainability, environmental conservation, and active local community involvement.
Consistency in this management approach has earned national recognition. In 2023, Bukit Peramun was officially designated as Indonesia’s First Community-Based Digital Forest by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI), in recognition of the digital innovations implemented in its tourism management. Additionally, Bukit Peramun received the Green Gold award in the Environmental Conservation category at the 2019 Indonesian Sustainable Tourism Awards (ISTA).
In line with these achievements, Bukit Peramun has been gaining international recognition. This is reflected in the increase in the number of international tourists over the past few years; in 2023, there were approximately 387 tourists, rising to 485 in 2025.
On the other hand, domestic tourists’ interest in visiting Bukit Peramun has not waned. Throughout 2025, a total of 1,648 domestic tourists visited Bukit Peramun, up from 1,356 domestic tourists the previous year.
Along with the increase in visitor numbers, village officials have consistently implemented various new technological innovations, such as an Android-based virtual assistant app, to introduce the types and benefits of plants at Bukit Peramun, as well as a virtual guide in two languages (Indonesian and English). To make the most of your visit, here are some tips for visiting Bukit Peramun that visitors should consider:
- Visit reservations
To ensure the quality of your visit and the sustainability of the area, visitors are required to make a reservation in advance through the official website www.peramun.com. Visitors can choose from a variety of tour packages based on their interests, with a fully integrated digital booking and payment system. - Choosing the best time to visit
The best time to visit Bukit Peramun is recommended during the dry season, specifically between April and September, as tourist activities in this area are highly dependent on natural conditions. Tourist activities generally take place in the morning and afternoon. If you wish to observe the nocturnal Tarsier primates in the wild and enjoy the panoramic view of a star-studded sky, an afternoon visit may be the best option. - Adjusting right clothing
A visit to Bukit Peramun involves many outdoor activities, such as trekking. Therefore, comfortable clothing and footwear are essential. Ensure you are in good physical condition, use appropriate gear, and bring personal essentials for the duration of the activity. - Following safety guidelines
The management also emphasizes the importance of visitor safety and preparedness by following established standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially for trekking activities. Therefore, be sure to follow the safety guidelines provided by the management while engaging in activities at Bukit Peramun.
Various Activities at Terong Creative Tourism Village
Located on the northern coast of Belitung Regency, Terong Creative Tourism Village is about 27.5 kilometers from H.A.S. Hanandjoeddin Airport, or about a 40-minute drive. Situated in a former tin mining area, this village has become a productive economic tourism zone that blends nature and education, featuring attractions like the Aik Rusa Berehun Tour and hiking trails.
Utilizing a former tin mine that was voluntarily reclaimed by the community, the Aik Rusa Berehun Tour has transformed into an attractive destination equipped with various facilities, such as small business stalls, performance venues, and meeting huts. Fishing activities for fish such as tilapia, catfish, and pangasius are also popular options for visitors to the village.
“Makan bedulang” is another distinctive local tradition. Bedulang is a Belitung-style communal dining tradition symbolizing togetherness and brotherhood, where four people sit cross-legged around a single dulang (large serving tray). This tradition uses a red tablecloth and features local dishes such as fish soup, grilled fish, chicken with candlenuts or fried squid in batter, soy sauce chili sauce, lemongrass chili sauce, and fresh vegetables. The bedulang dining tradition emphasizes etiquette, such as giving priority to elders.
In 2026, the Terong Creative Tourism Village was selected as one of the locations for the Genera-Z Berbakti program. This community service program for college students is expected to bring the latest innovations to the Bakti BCA Village, which has been chosen to be upgraded.
