Johor & Jakarta, 24 January 2025 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) has successfully supported six tourism villages in winning prestigious awards at the ASEAN Tourism Awards (ATA) 2025. The six villages include Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village, Terong Creative Tourism Village, Semen Tourism Village, Talas Tourism Village, Glodok Chinatown Tourism Village, and Bilebante Green Tourism Village. This achievement highlights the success of several villages supported by Bakti BCA in continuously developing their tourism potential.
The ASEAN Tourism Awards is an initiative by ASEAN member countries to recognize and appreciate the efforts of tourism stakeholders in creating outstanding and high-quality destinations. These awards also aim to realize the vision of an "ASEAN single destination," uniting ASEAN countries as one integrated tourism destination. A total of three award categories were obtained by each assisted tourism village, ranging from the ASEAN Homestay Award, the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Award, to the ASEAN Public Toilet Award.
BCA Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn expressed, “We are very proud of the achievement of six Bakti BCA-assisted villages (Desa Bakti BCA) that have won the ASEAN Tourism Awards 2025. This accomplishment demonstrates that Indonesia’s tourism villages have tremendous potential and need to be continuously developed and promoted. With the right support, these villages can not only become leading tourist destinations but also contribute directly to the local economy and the welfare of local communities. This success inspires Bakti BCA, particularly through the Desa Bakti BCA pillar, to remain committed to developing tourism villages in Indonesia. We hope that all villages assisted by Bakti BCA will emerge as leading destinations for both domestic and international tourists.”
Through the Bakti BCA program, the company provides comprehensive support, including training programs, facility provision, promotional and marketing support, and financial literacy training. All of these programs are implemented gradually, tailored to the specific needs of each village. Here are the six villages assisted by Bakti BCA that successfully brought home the ASEAN Tourism Awards 2025:
- Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village
- Terong Creative Tourism Village
- Semen Tourism Village
- Taro Tourism Village
- Glodok Chinatown Tourism Village
- Bilebante Green Tourism Village
Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village has received an award in the ASEAN Homestay Award category. This village provides a distinctive homestay experience, featuring rows of rumah gadang that beautifully blend with the natural landscapes of West Sumatra. Visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local way of life, explore the distinct Minangkabau culture, and savor the region’s culinary delights.
Terong Creative Tourism Village was honored with the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Award. The village promotes eco-friendly tourism by engaging visitors in the daily activities of the community, including traditional farming, participating in art workshops, and creating handcrafted goods.
Semen Tourism Village has received the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Award, the same category as Terong Creative Tourism Village. The village showcases pristine natural beauty and a wealth of cultural heritage. Visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of local activities, including bamboo weaving, farming, preparing traditional herbal remedies, and cooking local dishes.
Taro Tourism Village also received an award in the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Award category. As one of the oldest villages in Bali, Taro Tourism Village promotes sustainable tourism that maintains the existence of culture and nature. Taro Village invites visitors to implement environmentally friendly practices through farming, trekking and traditional ceremonies.
Glodok Chinatown Tourism Village successfully earned the ASEAN Public Toilet Award. Situated in the heart of Jakarta, this village exemplifies the harmonious blend of Chinese and Betawi cultures. The high standard of facility management ensures visitors' comfort while they explore the area’s unique culinary offerings and historical sites, enhancing the overall tourist experience.
Bilebante Green Tourism Village also won an award in the ASEAN Public Toilet Award category, similar to Glodok Chinatown Tourism Village. Visitors to this village can enjoy stunning views of Mount Rinjani while experiencing comfort due to the hygienic and easily accessible supporting facilities.
“BCA believes that empowering local communities through the Desa Bakti BCA pillar can provide a sustainable positive impact, in terms of economy, social, and culture. The success of this program is the result of close collaboration between BCA and stakeholders, who have worked together to support the development of tourist villages in Indonesia. We hope that the achievements of the six Desa Bakti BCA will open up many opportunities for other villages in Indonesia to follow this path of success,” concluded Hera.
