Jakarta, 10 December 2019 – In support of government programs, especially workers security program and to provide service excellence, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) takes part in the Social Insurance Administration Organization (BPJS) program called Gerakan Nasional Peduli Tenaga Kerja Rentan (GN Lingkaran), which aims to help protect the so-called vulnerable workers. Through BPJSTK Jakarta-Grogol Branch Office, BCA made donations to 15,000 informal workers by providing these workers with protection in Work-Related Accidents and Death. It is expected to acquire non-wage recipients (informal workers) from several segments namely market traders, public transportation drivers, fishersmen, and online taxi drivers.
Director of BCA Lianawaty Suwono and Deputy Director of BPJSTK for DKI Jakarta Cotta Sembiring symbolically handed over BPJSTK member cards to informal worker representatives in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/12).
“We are committed to being helpful as a banking institution in improving public welfare in Indonesia. On the other hand, there are still millions of workers who do not have access to worker protection due to financial constraints. It is entirely possible for exposing these workers to risks. This is why BCA is working together with BPJSTK through GN Lingkaran program to help people to be able to work with protection,” said Lianawaty.
GN Lingkaran is a social innovation initiated by BPJSTK by accommodating donations from company’s CSR platforms or individuals via electronic means or online to help protect vulnerable workers with BPJSTK.
Vulnerable workers are non-wage recipients (BPU) who cannot afford BPJSTK independently due to low income. Of the 80 million BPU workers in Indonesia, the majority number of them are vulnerable workers, such as farmers, fishermen, petty traders, scrap collectors, and two-wheeler drivers.
“We hope that this cooperation can provide sustainable value added to all vulnerable workers as well as encouraging other parties to take part in the GN Lingkaran program,” Lianawaty concluded.
