Here’s How to Transfer Forex Using Poket Valas on myBCA

Forex Savings is a specialized savings service provided by banks to facilitate the storage and management of funds in foreign currencies. Similar to traditional savings accounts, forex savings accounts also share the same functions in storing and facilitating non-cash financial transactions.

Account holders of Tahapan, Tahapan Gold, Tapres, and Tahapan Xpresi accounts can set their accounts as parent accounts to activate the Poket Valas feature on myBCA.

Eligible Foreign Currencies for Poket Valas:

Poket Valas supports 16 foreign currencies, including:

  • United States Dollar (USD)
  • Singapore Dollar (SGD)
  • Chinese Yuan (CNY)
  • Euro (EUR)
  • Australian Dollar (AUD)
  • Japanese Yen (JPY)
  • Pound Sterling (GBP)
  • Hong Kong Dollar (HKD)
  • Malaysian Ringgit (MYR)
  • Thailand Baht (THB)
  • Swiss Franc (CHF)
  • Canadian Dollar (CAD)
  • Danish Krone (DKK)
  • New Zealand Dollar (NZD)
  • Swedish Krona (SEK)
  • Saudi Riyal (SAR)

Poket Valas is a feature on myBCA that facilitates foreign currency transfers easily and quickly. Listed below are the benefits of using Poket Valas on myBCA:

  1. Consolidate various forex currencies at competitive rates within a single account
  2. Easy transfer funds between BCA accounts and other banks in foreign currencies
  3. Enable cash withdrawals and overseas transactions without exchange rate conversion (1:1) by directly debiting funds from Poket Valas* using a BCA Debit Mastercard

*Ensure that the balance in Poket Valas is sufficient and international transactions in the Transaction Controls feature are already active to avoid declined transactions. If the overseas transaction is in a currency that is not available in Poket Valas, the transaction will be debited from the parent Poket Valas account (IDR).

How to Activate Poket Valas on myBCA App

To use Poket Valas, activate the service by following these steps:

  1. Log in to myBCA
  2. Click Activate Now in the Poket section, click Next
  3. Click Activate Poket Valas, read the Poket Valas Product and Service Information Summary, check the box and click Agree
  4. Choose the source of funds** 
  5. Specify the currency and initial deposit amount
  6. Choose the transaction purpose and click Next
  7. Read the Poket Valas Terms and Conditions, check the box and click Next
  8. Read the Foreign Exchange Purchase Statement andclick Agree
  9. Confirm the activation details of Poket Valas and click Next
  10. Enter your PIN and the initial deposit is complete, Poket Valas is now active

**The source of funds used to activate Poket Valas is also known as the parent account

How to Use Poket Valas on myBCA App

There are some Poket Valas features that you can perform on myBCA, such as balance inquiry, adding funds, and forex transfers between Poket Valas, BCA accounts, or other banks accounts.

Check Poket Valas Balance

  1. Log in to myBCA
  2. Click See More in the Poket section
  3. The balance of Poket Valas will appear

Adding (Top Up) Foreign Currency Fund in Poket Valas

  1. Log in to myBCA
  2. Select the desired currency in the Poket section
  3. Select Add Funds
  4. Select the source of funds
  5. Select the base currency, then fill in the amount
  6. Choose the purpose of the transaction and click Continue
  7. Read the Foreign Exchange Purchase Statement and click Agree
  8. Confirm the transaction details and click Continue
  9. Enter your PIN and the fund addition is successful

Transfer Between BCA Accounts Using Poket Valas

  1. Log in to myBCA
  2. Select the desired currency in the Poket section
  3. Select Transfer
  4. Select the recipient’s account from the Transfer List
  5. Select the source of funds
  6. Select transaction currency and source of currency, then enter the amount
  7. Choose the purpose of the transaction and click Continue
  8. Read the Foreign Exchange Purchase Statement, then tap Agree*
  9. Confirm the transaction details and click Continue
  10. Enter your PIN and the transfer is successful

In addition to the Poket feature, fund transfers between foreign currencies using Poket Valas can also be done through the Transfer feature.

*Customers must agree to the Foreign Exchange Purchase Statement when transferring from Rupiah to a foreign currency. 

Transfer Forex to Other Banks with Forex Pocket as the Source of Funds

  1. Log in to myBCA
  2. Select Transfer
  3. Select Transfer Forex to Other Banks
  4. Choose the beneficiary account from the beneficiary list or select Transfer to new beneficiary if the beneficiary account is not registered
  5. Select Forex Pocket Account as the source of funds. Forex Pocket Accounts are marked with IDR/FOREX in the description below the account number
  6. Choose Transaction Currency and Source of Currency according to the currency in Forex Pocket, complete the transfer amount and other information, then click Continue
  7. Ensure the transaction details, then click Continue
  8. Input password
  9. Transfer successful

  • Yes, Poket Valas can be deactivated through myBCA by:

    • Log in to myBCA
    • Click See More in the Poket section
    • Click the icon on the top right corner, then click Deactivate Poket Valas
    • Follow the next steps

    If there is still a balance in Poket Valas when deactivating, all funds will be transferred from Poket Valas to the fund source account.

  • Does a transaction using Poket Valas require an Underlying Document?

  • How do I check my account statements after activating Poket Valas?
  • You can view your account statements through the e-Statement feature on myBCA and KlikBCA. Additionally, you can also check Poket Valas account statements through the Poket feature on myBCA.

  • Can Local Currency Transactions (LCT) be conducted with Poket Valas?
  • Yes, Local Currency Transactions can be done with Poket Valas in MYR (Malaysian Ringgit) or THB (Thai Baht). Currently, customers can:

    • Add funds or transfer from a BCA account in IDR to their own Poket Valas in MYR and THB.
    • Transfer from Poket Valas in MYR or THB to their own BCA account in IDR.
    • Transfer in the same foreign currency from Poket Valas in MYR or THB to another bank account domiciled in the respective currency’s country.
      Example: A THB transfer to an account at another bank domiciled in Thailand.
  • What are the specific requirements for conducting LCT transactions with Poket Valas in MYR or THN currency?
    • Transactions from a BCA account in IDR to Poket Valas in MYR or THB totaling USD200,000 or more per transaction must be accompanied by relevant underlying documents
    • Transactions from Poket Valas in MYR or THB to a BCA Account in IDR can be made if the transactions amount does not exceed the equivalent of USD200,000
    • Before deactivating Poket Valas, any balance in MYR and/or THB that is equivalent to USD200,000 or more must be transferred to your BCA account in IDR
