You must be familiar with wayang puppetry. This art tradition is known for its entertainment through allegorical tales it conveys to the spectators. It should come as no surprise, then, that wayang has been recognized by UNESCO as Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on 7 November 2003. In 2018, the government declared November 7 as National Wayang Day.
Realizing the significance of wayang for the Indonesian people and to mark the National Wayang Day, BCA, through the Bakti Budaya program, supports the development of wayang by holding the Wayang Youth Festival 2021.
For those who do not know, the Wayang Youth Festival 2021 is a collaboration between BCA, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, and Sampan Bujana to ensure our future generations will take a greater interest in the Indonesian cultures.
In the pursuit of these goals and to hone the creativity among the youths, BCA is calling for all of you to participate in the Wayang Strip Comic Competition and at the Wayang Youth Festival 2021 under the theme “Heroic Wayang”.
The works submitted into the Wayang Youth Festival 202Wayang Dance Drama Competition 1 will be juried by experts in wayang, comics, and wayang dance drama.
For those who made it to the finale, you will have the opportunity to join workshops from the judges and win a total prize of hundreds of millions of rupiah.
