Beware of Scam Through BCA SMS! Set Up OTP Code Delivery via myBCA

Scam messages sent through official Bank SMS numbers, also known as Fake BTS, have been done for a long time and are still widespread.

Fake BTS (base transceiver station) is an illegal device used to imitate the official BTS towers of mobile operators, making it appear as though the messages come from a legitimate operator. With this device, fraudsters can send mass SMS messages to nearby phones without being detected by the operator’s system.

Scammers are targeting personal data through links sent in the fake SMS messages appearing to be from BCA. The detailed sequence of their scam can be found in our previous article.

With Fake BTS, it becomes difficult for victims to distinguish between legitimate and fraudulent messages, since the number is also used to send OTP codes.

Due to the rising number of SMS scams, BCA provides a solution.
