BCA Implements Restrictions on Foreign Debit Transactions without a PIN for Security Abroad

DearBCA Debit Mastercard holders,

Do you often travel abroad? Do not forget to bring your BCA Debit Mastercard because you can withdraw cash at ATMs and make debit transactions at EDC machines with the Mastercard logo. Isn’t it convenient?

In connection with the policy in certain countries where the use of the BCA Debit Mastercard through EDC can be done without a PIN (with/without a signature), BCA feels it is necessary to protect the security of its customers from possible fraud.

This risk may occur when a BCA Debit Mastercard holder loses the card in that country. To reduce the risk of misuse of BCA debit cards by other parties, BCA restricts PIN-less debit transactions abroad. It is carried out by setting up a daily limit for PIN-less debit transactions made on EDC machines abroad.

Transactions at Merchants with Certain Categories

Specifically for transactions at merchants with the following categories:

  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Luxury Stores
  • Restaurants or Eating Places
  • Lodging, Hotels, Motels, Resorts
  • Duty-Free Stores
  • Men’s and Women’s Clothing Stores

Provisions for the daily limit of BCA Debit Mastercard transactions without a PIN abroad are as follows:

  • Transaction frequency limit: Not limited
  • Nominal accumulation limit: Follows the daily transaction limit according to the type of debit card

Transactions at Other Merchants

In addition to the 7 merchant categories above, the daily limit for BCA Debit Mastercard transactions without a PIN abroad is as follows:

  • Transaction frequency limit: Not limited
  • Nominal accumulation limit: Blue IDR 25 million per day, Gold IDR 35 million per day, Platinum (including Prioritas and Solitaire) IDR 50 million per day

PIN-less debit transactions will be rejected if one of the frequency limits for debit transactions without a PIN or the accumulated amount limit for PIN-less debit transactions is reached.

By disabling all transactions, your BCA Debit card can no longer be used by others. But don’t worry, you can still use your BCA mobile.

That sums up the information on daily transactions restrictions for PIN-less debit transactions abroad. This is done by BCA to maintain the security of transactions for BCA Debit Mastercard holders. We wish you a comfortable trip abroad.
