BCA Supports Ease of Payment in China Through the Implementation of QRIS Cross Border

Jakarta, 5 May 2026 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) supports the implementation of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) Cross Border in China through the myBCA and BCA mobile applications. This support allows Indonesians to conduct transactions in China using QRIS, and for all tourists from China to use QR in merchants that have QRIS BCA in Indonesia. This reinforces BCA's commitment to create a digital payment ecosystem that is safe, easy, and efficient for users while conducting transactions outside the country or when receiving payment from international tourists.

The implementation of QRIS Cross Border Indonesia-China is a strategic innovation being initiated by Bank Indonesia to strengthen connectivity within a regional payment system, as well as expanding the use of Local Currency Transaction (LCT). Through this scheme, users will be able to conduct international transactions in a more practical way without having to exchange cash. This step is also able to minimize the risk of exchange rate volatility and push for more efficient international trade currents and investments.

BCA President Director Hendra Lembong said that BCA continues to support various payment system innovations from Bank Indonesia, including the development of QRIS Cross Border in various countries

"BCA gladly welcomes the implementation of QRIS Cross Border Indonesia-China as part of the transformation of national digital payment systems. The presence of this service will hopefully bring ease for customers while conducting transactions abroad, as well as provide an opportunity for merchants to accept transactions from international tourists, while additionally strengthening economic and tourism connectivity between Indonesia and China," Hendra Lembong said.

At this stage, the QRIS Cross Border service can be used by Indonesians to conduct transactions in six countries, which are Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and China. Tourists from these six countries will also be able to use the QR payment system in Indonesia, by scanning the QR code on a BCA EDC machine.

Per the first quarter of 2026, the frequency of QRIS Cross Border transactions that have been processed by BCA's system has increased by 355% compared to the same period in the previous year. At the same time, transaction values have seen a noted increase of 318% YoY.

BCA customers can make use of the QRIS Cross Border service through either the myBCA or BCA mobile app by following these easy steps:

  1. Open the myBCA or BCA mobile app
  2. Pick the QRIS feature / scan QR
  3. The transaction amount will be automatically converted to rupiah
  4. Confirm payment using PIN
