Promoting Upstream Prevention for Stunting, BCA Distributes Preeclampsia Early Detection Devices

Jakarta, 22 April 2026 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) under its umbrella program, called Bakti BCA reinforced its commitment in supporting stunting prevention. Recently, BCA participated in socialisation and preeclampsia early detection activities on Tuesday (21/04/2026), at Gedung Prof. Sujudi at the Ministry of Health. Preeclampsia is a pregnancy disorder that can increase the risk of premature birth and low birth weight, both of which are risk factors for stunting in children.

During this event, Bakti BCA distributed aid consisting of one package of preeclampsia early detection kit to Puskesmas Cisompet, Garut, Jawa Barat. The kit contains USG, patient monitor, an Android tablet, and a Cexup application used by medical workers to run risk detection more quickly and accurately.

Bakti BCA also encouraged 31 pregnant women living in the operational area of Klinik Binaan Bakti BCA, Klinik Bakti Media Mangga Dua. The women had an opportunity to have an in-person socialisation session and preeclampsia early detection check up, as well as having the risk of pregnancy being detected earlier. Other than that, Bakti BCA along with Klinik Bakti Medika presented the Mini Medical Check-Up (MCU) service for the participants for free as a part of the effort to drive a broader early health issues detection.

BCA Director Antonius Widodo Mulyono stated that the activities were expected to detect risks posed to pregnant women earlier, with preeclampsia being one of the examples. This also aligns heavily with the government’s efforts to push the decrease of Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) that is still higher compared to other Southeast Asian countries.

Widodo mentioned the importance of an active collaboration between many stakeholders in order to achieve the target. In this context, Widodo emphasised that BCA remains committed to support the long-term life sustainability of mothers and children.

“Today we distributed the aid in the form of a set of preeclampsia early detection kit, previously BCA has also been active in stunting prevention for the last few years. Hopefully through our actions, the MMR in Indonesia can significantly decrease,” said Widodo.

BCA EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn added that the collaborative activity with the Ministry of Health demonstrates Bakti BCA’s consistency in supporting stunting prevention. Previously, BCA had already implemented the PASTI (Partner Akselerasi Penurunan Stunting di Indonesia--partnership to accelerate stunting reduction in Indonesia) and the ‘Ayo Cegah Stunting’ programs.

Hera explained that BCA with philanthropic organisations and other private companies also supports the Ministry of Population and Family Development through the PASTI program to accelerate the reduction of the stunting prevalence in Indonesia. This joint program, spanning four years from 2023 to 2026 with a total donation of US$1 million, has provided nutritional interventions to 6,070 children under the age of two during the 2023–2025 period.

“Stunting prevention needs to start from the upstream, from the teenagers and family preparedness, mother’s health throughout the pregnancy, up to the children’s growth. BCA hopes that these initiatives can strengthen the effort of early prevention since pregnancy as well as improving the readiness of health facilities to give more accurate and quicker response,” Hera concluded.
