Samboja, 1 September 2024 - A total of 200 students participated in the "Student Goes to Nature" program, a collaboration between BCA and the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) held at the BOSF Orangutan Conservation area in Samboja Lestari, East Kalimantan. This activity is a continuation of BCA's commitment in protecting the environment and preserving nature for future generations. Through this program, Bakti BCA and BOSF provided education to the students on the importance of environmental conservation and equipped them with additional knowledge to support their future.
The "Student Goes to Nature" program is an extension of a previous initiative by BCA and BOSF called "Orangutan Goes to School" (OGTS). In the OGTS program, students were educated about orang utan conservation in their respective schools. Unlike OGTS, the "Student Goes to Nature" program encourages students to engage with nature and learn about forest preservation and the vital role of orang utans in maintaining ecosystem balance. The students also participated in tree planting activities and received education about sun bears. As a financial institution, BCA also provided financial literacy information that will be useful in the future.
BCA Corporate Communications & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn stated, “We believe that environmental awareness should be nurtured from an early age. Our goal is to raise awareness among students, as the future generation of our nation, to appreciate, protect, and preserve the environment in a way that is enjoyable and easy to understand. We understand that orang utan conservation is not only about protecting a single species but also about ensuring the sustainability of forests as the lungs of the planet and sustaining the Earth.”
