BCA Encourages the Public to Build National Cultures through Tourism Villages

Jakarta, 11 May 2021 – Indonesia is a nation with diverse cultures, an element that should be recognized and become one of the indicators of the country’s progress. As an effort to develop national cultures, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is committed to providing value added to the Indonesian people through the Desa Wisata Awards 2021. The various attractive webinars were held to enliven the event.

This time, BCA holds a webinar called “the Culture of Nation-Building through Tourism Villages”, which was attended by EVP CSR of BCA Inge Setiawati, Ambassador/Deputy Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Indonesia to UNESCO Prof. Dr. Surya Rosa P, M.S and Tourism Observer, Deputy of Infrastructure and Destination Development of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (2020-2021) Dr. Ir. Hari Sungkari, M,H on Thursday (06/05). In addition, also attending the webinar was 12 Bakti BCA tourism village administrators and other administrators of tourism villages from other regions in Indonesia.

“BCA is committed to continuing to develop tourism village potentials in Indonesia, along with the nation’s cultural diversity, we believe that the addition of tourism villages will further enrich BCA’s assisted villages. This accords with the fact that not all tourism villages are profit-oriented, but they also embrace other factors including people, environment, governance, and planet. In developing these villages, we also hope that a local champion will rise among them,” said Inge.

“I believe that the view of village as a center of cultural heritage can affect destinations such as Geoparks and Biosphere reserves in Indonesia. Various cultural expressions found in these villages such as dance, sculpture, and art, will greatly benefit Indonesia’s future development. On behalf of UNESCO, I support the Desa Wisata Awards organized by BCA as cultural development reserve in Indonesia,” said Prof. Dr. Surya Rosa P, M.S.

BCA, through its Bakti BCA Assisted Village program, is currently developing 12 tourism villages with various mentoring programs. These programs are carried out through the Bakti Komunitas program, and the Excellence Business Solution pillar supports the continuity of sustainable tourism in Indonesia. For these developments, BCA also puts forward cultural aspects, which is the most important aspect to be promoted amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“According to the law, the key objective of tourism is economic improvement. One of the things that can be developed in tourism is culture. This will enhance our nation’s image. Indonesia’s myriad cultures signify unity, and it is our duty to make an open expression that the biggest advantage of Indonesia is our diversity,” said Dr. Ir. Hari Sungkari, M,H.

As additional information, BCA is currently holding the Desa Wisata Awards 2021, lasting until June 2021. BCA has also prepared a total prize of Rp600 million and mentoring program for the winners. All tourism villages in Indonesia are eligible to participate in the competition.
