Semarang, 17 November 2020 – Since its first outbreak in Indonesia in March, the Covid-19 pandemic has prompted PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) to distribute aid to the communities in need. BCA has distributed rapid test kits, ventilators, PPE and masks to health centers, hospitals, and affected communities. BCA also supports various movements to combat Covid-19, whether initiated by the government or other agencies. This time, BCA reiterates support for the Mask Movement Masker (GPM) by distributing aid to Central Java.
BCA, through the Bakti BCA program, supports the handling of Covid-19 and GPM program in Central Java by distributing 1,000 PPE and 10,000 surgical masksfor health workers at puskesmas and hospitals, and 30,000 cloth masks for the people of Central Java. The assistance was symbolically handed over by the President Director of BCA EVP CSR of BCA Inge Setiawati and Head of Regional Office II Central Java Gunawan Prayogo to the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo through a video conference on Tuesday (17/11).
“BCA believes that the Covid-19 pandemic alleviation measures lies squarely on all of us, not only the government and health institutions. Supporting the efforts of the Indonesian government and WHO in breaking the chain of Covid-19 transmission in Indonesia, BCA seeks to provide help evenly throughout the nation, including in Central Java. The mask distribution today aims to develop awareness and understanding about the importance of wearing a mask amid the pandemic,” said Jahja.
BCA manifested its support for the GPM program through education about the correct use of mask as well as the donation 100,000 masks for East Java, Central Java, and West Java. Of the total 30,000 masks distributed in Central Java, 15,000 of them were allocated for Jepara regency and 15,000 others for Demak Regency, including for the elderly. Through this donation, BCA also supports the dementia prevention campaign in collaboration with the Alzheimer Indonesia Foundation.
As a matter of information, the procurement of 100,000 masks for the GPM was produced by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) assisted by BCA and the communities of BCA assisted villages. As is well known, the Covid-19 pandemic was also affecting the industrial sector, including the MSME. This prompts BCA to empower MSME and the communities of the assisted villages so as to provide value added and drive the economy.
“We thank the Central Java Provincial Government that has allowed BCA to be involved in the Covid-19 alleviation and prevention efforts. We hope that the donation may be helpful to everyone and help reduce the transmission of Covid-19 in Central Java. May all the efforts that have been done can make positive impacts on all of us,” Jahja concluded.
