Surakarta, 24 July 2020 – As one of the financial institutions in Indonesia, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) supports the goals of sustainable development and the implementation of sustainable finance. Through the Bakti BCA’s CSR programs, BCA contributes to the environment and community survival, either in the fields of education, health, culture, and community empowerment. This time, the Bakti BCA program provided rehabilitation assistance for inadequate housing in Semanggi, Surakarta.
Cash assistance worth Rp100 million was handed over by the Head of KCU Solo Slamet Riyadi Sabar Purnomo to the Mayor of Surakarta FX Hadi Rudyatmo, Regional Secretary of Surakarta Ir. Ahyani M.A at Pondok Persada Surakarta on Friday (24/07). The cash assistance will then be handed over to a vendor appointed by the Surakarta Municipal Government, namely CV Cipta Mandiri Tekindo, who will work on the construction of the Semanggi Surakarta Regional House.
“Having an adequate place to live is basically a human right. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to build a house that is classified as livable. For this reason, BCA, as a bank that always stand by the community, takes the initiative to help rehabilitate houses that are unfit for habitation. We are trying to ensure that this kind of assistance can be distributed evenly throughout Indonesia, including Semanggi in Surakarta,” said Sabar.
An adequate house is not merely about land size or grand design. According to the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), a house that is fit for habitation must have a roof, floor, and wall construction that meets safety and comfort requirements; clean water network from PDAM (Regional Drinking Water Company) or functioning clean water source; functioning electric utilities; environmental infrastructure that has been paved and is fully functioning; environmental channels that have been completed and are fully functioning; as well as the provision of septic tanks or sanitary disposal facility that is functioning properly and safely, and is not polluting the environment.
“We hope that the donation we gave today may help those who are less fortunate to obtain a house fit for habitation. BCA will continue to provide assistance and attention to the Indonesian people in need. Previously, BCA had also provided assistance for the construction of Klewer Market and Legi Market, which were burned down some time ago. We hope that this assistance can provide sustainable benefits,” Sabar concluded.
