Insurance is nothing new to Fioni Veliana (57). Whenever a friend or relative recommended an insurance product, Fioni would buy it – without really understanding the function and scope of benefits.
“Before becoming an AIA customer, I often received offers from other insurance products in which promising that once I became a customer, I could immediately make claims when health problems arose. But the reality was nothing like what was offered at the beginning,” said Fioni, a mother of two.
“Three months after buying another insurance product, I was sick, so I decided to seek treatment in Singapore. Before leaving, I asked the insurance agent first whether the insurance I had would have covered my illness. He assured me that the product did indeed cover it. I even checked with him twice. But once the treatment was completed, and I filed a claim, it turned out that I couldn’t,” continued Fioni, who lives in Pekanbaru, Riau.
This experience made her no longer believe in insurance. Until one day at a reunion event a few years ago, Fioni met colleagues who changed her view of insurance. Fioni was 53 years old at the time. A friend reminded her about the importance of having insurance for the elderly.
“My friend reminded me, as parents who are at an age that is vulnerable to various illnesses, we cannot place the responsibility on our children. Because they grow up and have their own lives. That’s why it is important to have health insurance to minimize the financial risk of treatment costs. According to my friend, even though it is too late to have insurance when you are in your 50s, it is never too late to get the protection you need,” added Fioni. Her friend suggested buying AIA insurance products through BCA in consideration of the ease of getting services because there are AIA marketers on duty at BCA. AIA insurance is also very practical and provides convenience when we are sick. “According to my friend, you only need to show the AIA card and the treatment is covered, even to the extent of getting treatment overseas.”
Knowing this, and listening to her friend’s experience, Fioni decided to choose the AIA Maxi Protection with the Premier Hospital & Surgical plus, personal accident, and critical illness riders from AIA as the only insurance she has. As a BCA customer, Fioni can easily obtain this insurance product through AIA’s Bancassurance Life Consultant (BLC) at BCA.
Fioni felt the benefits of AIA Maxi Protection when she was diagnosed with a critical illness a few years ago. “One time, my husband and I travelled to Singapore. There, I had an emergency, unable to raise my hand. My husband immediately suggested a medical check-up. From the examination, the doctor revealed the diagnosis. Surprised to learn about the disease, I initially refused to be treated because I thought I would never recover. It is better to use the money for my children’s education,” said Fioni.
“Fortunately the doctor in Singapore convinced me that my condition could still be treated given the advancement of the medical world today. I remembered the AIA Maxi Protection that I had. Thanks to that, I benefited from the medical services that eased the financial burden. All I had to do was showing my AIA card for administrative records and I was provided with comfortable facilities, including an exclusive room, not shared with other patients. The whole process was seamless,” she added.
After proving the benefits of her insurance product, Fioni also protected her two children with the same product.
“There are many new diseases nowadays. Health insurance is increasingly important because health is expensive and we don’t know when illness will strike. Having insurance gives us peace of mind and eases our burden when diagnosed with an illness, so we can focus on healing,” suggested Fioni who has submitted a total of billions of rupiah in insurance claims.
If you are interested in having the same health protection as Fioni, now a new similar insurance product is available, namely Maxi Protection Plus with Premier Hospital & Surgical Extra rider. For complete information, visit the nearest BCA branch.
