Breaking Through Limitations: The Story of a Deaf Nail Artist and the Bakti BCA Inclusive Empowerment Ecosystem

Tangerang, 14 September 2026 - At the Nail Art by MUA Tuli Bakti BCA booth at BCA Expo 2026, Nagita was busy arranging a nail polish display while coordinating with other nail artists using sign language. They are all professional nail artists, graduates of Bakti BCA's makeup and nail art training and coaching program for Friends with Disabilities (Teman Tuli).

The presence of the Nail Art booth by MUA Tuli Bakti BCA is part of the showcase of MSMEs and communities fostered by Bakti BCA at the BCA Expo Jabodetabek 2026, which took place at ICE BSD, Tangerang on 11-13 September, 2026. The MUA Tuli Bakti BCA program is a training and coaching program for Friends with Disabilities (Teman Tuli) made by Bakti BCA in collaboration with the Yayasan Perempuan Tangguh Mandiri Indonesia (PTI).

Since participating in the program in 2024, Nagita has received training, mastering makeup and nail art techniques from scratch. "I've loved makeup for a long time. When I joined the Bakti BCA program, I struggled with several things, like messy eyebrows and messy nail art. However, I continued practicing with the help of the instructors until I truly understood and became a professional makeup artist," Nagita said.

Participants in the Bakti BCA Deaf MUA program undergo selection, training, makeup, hairstyling, and nail art practice, as well as financial management, social media management, and a BNSP certification exam. This training and coaching is aimed at equipping people with disabilities with skills that can generate income.

In addition to Nagita, the BCA Bakti Deaf MUA program also mentored 14 other Deaf MUAs and received a graduation ceremony in December 2025. These fifteen MUAs were given the opportunity to participate in events involving BCA, including the 2026 BCA Expo Jabodetabek.

"I'm thrilled to be able to participate in BCA Expo 2026 and impressed by the support BCA provides for our deaf friends," said Nagita.

The presence of Bakti BCA's deaf MUAs was indeed a major draw at BCA Expo 2026 Greater Jakarta. Over the three days of the event, their booth generated a total revenue of approximately IDR13,000,000. This revenue is the sweet fruit of their diligent training and reflects Bakti BCA's inclusive space.

BCA EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn said, "BCA believes that every individual has the potential to develop and create when given the right opportunities and support. The presence of Deaf MUA at BCA Expo 2026 is proof that sustainable empowerment can create a more inclusive space while providing opportunities for Deaf Friends to showcase their skills and work to the community."

Going forward, Bakti BCA affirms its commitment to continuing to expand this inclusive empowerment ecosystem, so that more Deaf Friends and other people with disabilities have equal access to work and become economically independent.
