Jakarta, 20 July 2026 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) has officially launched the Sanggar Bakti BCA program as a step to strengthen the sustainability of the performing arts ecosystem in Indonesia. This program addresses the real challenges faced by the arts community, ranging from limited funding, limited organizational management capacity, to limited access to mentoring and development networks.
Citra Art Studio was the first studio selected to participate in the Sanggar Bakti BCA program, receiving more in-depth medium-term mentoring. The focus of the mentoring is not only on improving the quality of performance works, but also on strengthening the organization, managing activities and performances, documenting works, and developing human resources so that the studio can grow more professionally, independently, and sustainably.
For your information, Citra Art Studio is a dance and music community founded by Armen Suwandi and Siti Suryani. Citra Art Studio also specializes in contemporary dance, all traditional dances, and Indonesian creatives. Citra Art Studio is actively involved in developing and preserving Indonesian arts and culture. This is evidenced by its participation in various events both domestically and internationally, as well as active participation in music and dance festivals.
EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility BCA, Hera F. Haryn hopes that this program can strengthen the role of the studio which was established in 2006 as a space for preserving and developing arts and culture, so that it can continue to produce works, open learning opportunities for the younger generation and provide wider benefits to the community.
"We hope the selected studios can utilize this program to develop their potential, expand opportunities, and strengthen their sustainability. We hope the mentoring we provide will equip them to continue growing and reaching a wider audience," said Hera F. Haryn, EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility at BCA.
This program is being implemented in collaboration with Titimangsa as the implementing partner. This selection was based on Titimangsa's track record of over 15 years in developing the performing arts, its experience producing various artworks, and its training programs.
There are two stages in the implementation of Sanggar Bakti BCA:
- The first stage involves an assessment and mapping of the arts community to identify potential studios based on their artistic activities, organizational capacity, the quality of their artistic processes, and their commitment to development.
- The second stage involves intensive mentoring, which includes strengthening artistic quality, strengthening organizational capacity, and developing performance works.
A total of 10 studios that are candidates for the program have undergone an assessment by a team of researchers, namely Elly Luthan (traditional dance maestro & choreographer) and Joned Suryatmoko (actor and artist). Based on the results of a comprehensive evaluation, the five best studios were selected that met the criteria to then conduct a live presentation in front of a panel of experts who are competent in their fields, namely Happy Salma (Founder of Titimangsa), Nungki Kusumastuti (Arts and Performance Academic), Sari Madjid (Producer and Stage Manager of Teater Koma), and Nanang Hape (Culturalist and Puppeteer).
As an implementing partner of the Sanggar Bakti BCA program, Happy Salma expressed her appreciation for the collaboration with Bakti BCA in supporting the sustainability of performing arts in Indonesia. She believes this program provides a learning space that provides opportunities for studios to broaden their perspectives on managing and developing arts activities, while also strengthening ecosystems and sustainability.
"I am thrilled to be collaborating with Bakti BCA on this program. This collaboration has been a truly valuable experience for Titimangsa. We met many artists who work with consistency and a passion for tradition. We hope that the selected studios will use this program as an opportunity to exchange knowledge, develop new ideas, and grow in confidence in their artistic journeys," said Happy Salma.
Nungki Kusumastuti also advised the selected studios to further strengthen their programs after receiving assistance from BCA. She hopes the assistance will be efficient and targeted.
"Being selected as a BCA Bakti Studio is certainly an achievement and a responsibility. I hope that the selected studios can take advantage of this program to further strengthen studio management, develop their potential, and prepare steps so that the studio can continue to grow independently. Apart from that, I congratulate you on being selected," said the woman who is often called Nungki.
