Strengthening the Competitiveness of MSMEs, BCA Holds a Halal Certification Workshop in Kubu Raya

Kubu Raya, 8 July 2026 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to encourage more micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the food and beverage sector to gain access to halal certification. This is in preparation for the mandatory halal certification requirement, which will take effect by October 2026 at the latest.

Assistance for MSME operators to obtain access to this certification was provided through the 2026 Halal Certification Workshop at BCA's Main Branch Office (KCU) in Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan, on Tuesday (7/7/2026).

The workshop was also attended by the Deputy Regent of Kubu Raya, H. Sukiryanto, S.Ag., and the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for West Kalimantan Province, Doni Septadijaya, as a form of joint synergy in strengthening a resilient, competitive, and sustainable MSME ecosystem in Indonesia.

"Halal certification has now become a strategic necessity for MSME operators, both to comply with regulations and to enhance business competitiveness. Through this program, BCA hopes MSME operators will find it easier to gain access to halal certification while also building their business capacity to grow sustainably," said the Head of BCA's Kubu Raya Main Branch Office, Ibnu Suwito, on Tuesday.

The 2026 Halal Certification Program at BCA's Kubu Raya Main Branch Office (KCU) marked the first self-declared halal certification workshop in the region and was attended by more than 50 participants. The participants came from BCA's MSME customers as well as business operators recommended by BCA's partners and stakeholders, such as the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for West Kalimantan Province, the Indonesian Chinese Cultural and Customary Council (MABT), the Pontianak City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), and Telkomsel.

According to data from Indonesia's Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, business operators' average turnover increased by 8.5% after obtaining halal certification. This confirms that halal certification is not merely about regulatory compliance, but also a business strategy with a real impact on MSME growth.

The workshop held at the Kubu Raya Main Branch Office is a continuation of similar activities in various regions. In 2023, BCA facilitated the issuance of 1,000 halal certificates across 10 regencies/cities spread over nine provinces. That number rose to 2,000 halal certificates in 2024, covering 24 regencies/cities in 13 provinces. Subsequently, during the 2025–2026 period, the program has reached 18 provinces and 24 regencies/cities.

"Through this workshop, we hope more MSME operators in Kubu Raya can take advantage of the opportunity to obtain halal certification. In doing so, they can be better prepared to meet applicable regulations while also boosting consumer trust and expanding their business opportunities,” said Ibnu.
