BCA Supports the Implementation of QRIS Cross Border in South Korea, Strengthening Regional Payment Connectivity

Jakarta, 17 April 2026 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) positively welcomes the implementation of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) Cross Border in South Korea as part of strengthening the connectivity of payment systems as initiated by Bank Indonesia. This support shows BCA's commitment to fulfill the needs of customers who are conducting transactions abroad.

"BCA is ready to support the implementation of QRIS Cross Border in South Korea. We appreciate Bank Indonesia's initiative in developing QRIS Cross Border as a solution for easy, fast, and efficient payments for Indonesians abroad," says BCA President Director, Hendra Lembong.

The implementation of QRIS Cross Border in South Korea has officially been launched on 1 April 2026. This launch is an important pillar for expanding the Indonesian digital payment ecosystem at an international level. This initiative is the result of a collaboration between Bank Indonesia and Bank of Korea to bring a multinational payment system that is more efficient and inclusive.

As a whole, QRIS Cross Border is now being used in 5 countries, namely Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. Bank Indonesia revealed that since the start of 2026, there have been a total of 7.6 million transactions done on QRIS across countries. Those transactions consist of 5.9 million inbound transactions and 1.7 million outbound by Indonesians abroad.

BCA has contributed to the rising number of transactions using QRIS Cross Border. Based on its usage in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan, the volume of QRIS Cross Border transactions that has been processed by BCA's system has increased by 185% Year-over-Year (YoY) by the end of December 2025. In the same period, the value of transactions has been recorded to reach Rp632 billion, or an increase of 148% YoY.

"So far, QRIS Cross Border has supported the needs of customers who are engaging in activities while abroad, from daily retail transactions, consumption, to payments in the tourism and lifestyle sector. BCA continues to be committed to developing and expanding digital services to fulfill our customers' growing needs," Hendra Lembong added.

The QRIS Cross Border service can be used on either the myBCA or BCA mobile app. For our customers, here are the steps to follow:

  • Open the myBCA or BCA mobile app
  • Pick the QRIS feature / scan QR
  • Scan the QR code on merchants abroad who support QRIS
  • The transaction amount will be automatically converted to rupiah
  • Confirm payment using PIN
