Bakti BCA–Supported Kampung Prai Ijing (Tebara) Tourism Village Wins ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award 2026

Jakarta, 1 February 2026 – Kampung Prai Ijing (Tebara) Tourism Village, located in West Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has received the ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award at the ASEAN Tourism Awards (ATA) 2026, organized as part of the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Cebu, the Philippines. The award presented to Prai Ijing, which is part of the Bakti BCA Village program, underscores the Company’s contribution to the development of sustainable community-based enterprises and MSMEs that support the local economy.

Renowned for its unique traditional architecture and adherence to the Marapu belief system, the hilltop tourism village also preserves its longstanding weaving culture. This tradition not only attracts domestic and international tourists to witness the weaving process, but also serves as a key driver of the local economy through the sale of various Sumba woven textile products to visitors. Prai Ijing’s strong commitment to upholding Sumba’s cultural heritage has earned international recognition through the ASEAN Tourism Sustainable Awards in the Rural Product category.

BCA EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn stated, “We are proud of the achievement of our Bakti BCA village, Kampung Prai Ijing Tebara Tourism Village, which has won the ASEAN Tourism Sustainable Awards – Rural Product category at this prestigious ASEAN Tourism Awards event, in recognition of the uniqueness of Prai Ijing’s Sumba woven textiles. This achievement once again highlights the tremendous potential of Indonesia’s tourism villages as leading examples of sustainable tourism. Through Bakti BCA’s MSME and Desa Bakti BCA programs, we are committed to continuously encouraging the growth of village community enterprises and MSMEs, so they can advance the local economy and improve the welfare of the surrounding community.”

The ASEAN Tourism Awards (ATA) is an award platform designed to recognize tourism stakeholders across ASEAN countries. ATA 2026 was held as part of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), an initiative by ASEAN member states to promote the ASEAN region as a tourism destination for travelers both within and outside the ASEAN region.

The Bakti BCA MSME and Desa Bakti BCA programs provide comprehensive assistance to 28 Desa Bakti BCA villages across various regions in Indonesia. The Desa Bakti BCA initiative upholds two main objectives: enhancing human resource capacity and expanding market access. Through a range of programs, including strengthening tourism attractions, improving service management, providing financial literacy training, organizing familiarization trips, and empowering local MSMEs,Bakti BCA aims to support sustainable community enterprises and contribute to the local economy.

“We hope that the contributions of Desa Bakti BCA can encourage other tourism villages in Indonesia to achieve their optimal potential in delivering high-quality and sustainable tourism destinations, as exemplified by Kampung Prai Ijing Tebara Tourism Village,” Hera concluded.
