Tangerang, 5 February 2026 — The island of Sumba, recently named one of the best travel destinations in Asia in 2025 by Time Out Asia, continues to captivate and has become a favorite among tourists seeking authentic experiences. The enchanting atmosphere of Sumba can be found in the Bakti BCA area at BCA Expoversary 2026, held at ICE BSD City, Tangerang on 5–8 February 2026.
At BCA Expoversary 2026, visitors can see and experience a slice of Sumba’s beauty in a mini version through an area designed with the signature concept of Desa Bakti BCA Kampung Prai Ijing/Tebara. Visitors can try traditional games typical of NTT and observe Sumba weavers demonstrating the making of traditional ikat woven fabric.
Sumba ikat weaving is known for its tying technique and the use of natural dyes, such as indigofera for blue, noni root for red, and other natural materials that produce dark and warm tones. Its motifs are largely inspired by the life and beliefs of the Sumbanese people, including animals such as horses and deer. This woven cloth is not only functional as fabric, but also reflects identity and cultural values passed down through generations.
In addition to featuring weavers who are native Sumbanese, the Bakti BCA area was also built with the region’s distinctive architectural concept. Don’t be surprised—visitors can even enter and see a miniature of the traditional house Umma Mangu Toko, beautifully constructed. This house is often referred to as a “peaked house” because its alang-alang roof is typically built up to 10 meters high. The miniature Umma Mangu Toko is present and worth visiting in the Bakti BCA area.
Visitors can also capture beautiful moments against a Sumba-inspired visual backdrop, complete with a horse replica in the same area. Racing horses are among the animals widely bred in Sumba. In the 1840s, these horses became a traded commodity by local nobles through Waingapu to other regions.
One traditional game visitors can try is “Kagorokana Alu,” a typical game from Sumba. Kagorokana Alu is played by 3–4 people using two bamboo sticks. Visitors can train agility and focus through this game.
If lucky, visitors can also witness captivating traditional dance performances from Sumba during BCA Expoversary 2026. These dances will be performed several times a day throughout the event.
EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility BCA, Hera F. Haryn, stated that the construction of the Bakti BCA area using the distinctive concept of Desa Bakti BCA Kampung Prai Ijing/Tebara was carried out as a form of BCA’s commitment to introducing Indonesia’s cultural richness while supporting local communities.
“Through the presence of this ‘Mini Sumba’ in the Bakti BCA area, we invite visitors not only to see but also to directly experience the cultural richness and resilience of the local communities we support. This is a real manifestation of BCA’s commitment to promoting quality tourism and the independence of Indonesia’s creative economy. For customers who feel inspired and wish to experience Sumba’s charm firsthand, we have prepared various exclusive travel promos at BCA Expoversary 2026, so the dream of exploring Indonesia’s beauty can be realized with the convenience of BCA’s banking solutions,” said Hera.
For those who wish to experience its true charm, Sumba is now increasingly accessible thanks to rapid infrastructure development. Throughout BCA Expoversary 2026, visitors can find various attractive travel packages to Sumba and other destinations in Hall 1 of the Astindo Travel Fair area. Special promotions are also available for customers who transact using various BCA products in the area.
