Bakti BCA and Nicholas Saputra Support 10 Tourism Villages to Become Sustainable Tourism Destinations

Bali, 5 January 2026 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), through its corporate shared value (CSV) program, Bakti BCA, held the Sharing Session Quality Tourism Desa Bakti BCA as part of the company’s commitment to supporting the development of tourism destinations that prioritize sustainability. The activity, which took place on 29-30 December 2025 at Taro Tourism Village, Bali, featured Bakti BCA Ambassador Nicholas Saputra and was attended by representatives from 10 tourism villages and community-based tourism groups under the Bakti BCA assisted villages (Desa Bakti BCA) program.

Through this forum, Desa Bakti BCA’s representatives gained first-hand insights from tourism practitioners on responsible tourism governance that upholds high standards and aligns with the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) principles. Participants also took part in benchmarking visits to Penglipuran Tourism Village, joined a cooking class at Taman Dukuh, and engaged in sharing sessions with Bakti BCA Ambassador Nicholas Saputra and BCA Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn.

Penglipuran Tourism Village was selected as the benchmarking destination based on its reputation as one of the Best Tourism Villages recognized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO/UN Tourism). Meanwhile, Nicholas Saputra was chosen as a speaker in recognition of his track record as a tourism practitioner who consistently prioritizes sustainability principles and the creation of high-quality tourism experiences.

“The Sharing Session Quality Tourism Desa Bakti BCA is an initiative to strengthen the capacity of our supported tourism villages and communities in managing destinations responsibly and sustainably. BCA believes that quality tourism goes beyond visitor numbers, it is reflected in meaningful travel experiences, the application of high service standards, and the ability to deliver positive economic, socio-cultural, and environmental impacts. Through this forum, we encourage Desa Bakti BCA managers to enhance governance practices and strengthen the competitiveness of their tourism destinations,” said Hera F. Haryn.

The Sharing Session Quality Tourism Desa Bakti BCA is part of a series of capacity-building programs organized by Bakti BCA under the Desa Bakti BCA pillar. In designing and implementing development programs for tourism villages and communities, BCA refers to the sustainable tourism criteria and indicators defined in Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Regulation No. 9 of 2021 on Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism Destinations. This approach reflects BCA’s support for the Government’s national strategy in advancing sustainable tourism development in Indonesia, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 10 representatives of Desa Bakti BCA participating in the Sharing Session Quality Tourism came from Bilebante Green Tourism Village, West Nusa Tenggara; Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village, West Sumatra; Pentingsari Tourism Village, Yogyakarta; Wukirsari Wayang Tourism Village, Yogyakarta; Prai Ijing/Tebara Traditional Village, East Nusa Tenggara; Edelweiss Wonokitri Tourism Village, East Java; Derawan Island Tourism Village, East Kalimantan; Patakbanteng Tourism Village, Central Java; Tamansari Tourism Village, East Java; and Taro Tourism Village, Bali.

At the event, Bakti BCA Ambassador Nicholas Saputra also emphasized the importance of consistently upholding sustainability principles in tourism destination management, while maintaining a balance between service quality, the preservation of nature and culture, and the active involvement of local communities.

“Every destination has its own distinct character and story, and therefore requires a management approach tailored to local conditions. Forums such as this provide a valuable space for tourism stakeholders to learn from one another and share experiences, including for myself. I believe that destination development which respects environmental and cultural preservation, actively engages local communities, and prioritizes the quality of visitor experiences will strengthen the sustainability of tourism villages. Through collective efforts, responsible and sustainable tourism can continue to grow, delivering long-term benefits for destinations and their surrounding environments,” said Nicholas Saputra.

Currently, BCA provides intensive support to 27 tourism villages across various regions in Indonesia. Several Desa Bakti BCA have also achieved notable recognition through prestigious awards at both the national and international levels. At the ASEAN Tourism Awards 2025, six Desa Bakti BCA received distinguished honors, namely Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village, Terong Creative Tourism Village, Semen Tourism Village, Taro Tourism Village, Glodok Chinatown Area, and Bilebante Green Tourism Village.
