BCA Director Shares Insights at UMN, Encourages Students to Treat Failure as a Stepping Stone

Tangerang, 14 November 2025 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), through Bakti BCA, hosted the BCA Berbagi Ilmu (BBI) program, at Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), Tangerang, Friday (14/11). Delivered as a public lecture featuring BCA’s Board of Directors, the program aims to provide students with essential insights to prepare them for the professional world.

At the event held at UMN, BBI carried the theme “The Art of Falling: Ukemi as a Lesson for Life and Career,” attended by more than 500 students from various study programs. The public lecture, hosted at UMN’s Function Hall, was delivered by BCA Director Hendra Tanumihardja, and attended by UMN Rector Ir. Andrey Andoko, M.Sc., Ph.D., members of the UMN academic community, and BCA’s management.

BCA Director Hendra Tanumihardja stated, “In the journey toward success, failure is an inseparable part of the process. The younger generation needs to approach failure through the philosophy of Ukemi, treating it as a chance to grow, especially as they enter a job market that is becoming more competitive due to rapid digitalization and shifting economic conditions. Through BCA’s BBI program at UMN, BCA strives to equip young people to be resilient, determined, and able to face future challenges with wisdom.

Hendra also explained how BCA applied the Ukemi philosophy in its journey as a banking institution. Ukemi, a martial arts technique, teaches how to absorb impact wisely to prevent injury when falling. This philosophy also guides BCA to stay resilient amid challenges, competition, and economic changes, enabling the company to continue growing, evolving, and advancing.

Furthermore, BCA recognizes that education is essential in helping students grow beyond the academic sphere. Through BBI, BCA contributes to the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 by equipping young people with relevant soft skills. This initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to strengthening human capital through collaboration with various educational institutions.

The BBI event at UMN marked the seventh edition of the BCA Berbagi Ilmu series in 2025, following previous events at Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, IPB University, Universitas Andalas, and Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala Surabaya. Organizing BBI at UMN further expanded the program’s reach, with more than 4,350 students participating throughout 2025.

“The BCA Berbagi Ilmu program is driven by the belief that the younger generation are future national leaders whose potential must be fully nurtured, enabling them to become responsible leaders for both themselves and society. Through Bakti BCA, we are committed to creating a positive impact across all levels of society, starting with individuals, extending to communities, and reaching the broader ecosystem,” Hendra concluded. Beyond BBI, as part of its ongoing support for young people, especially university students, BCA also ran the “Genera-Z Berbakti” program. This initiative engaged students in community service through funding, mentoring, and assistance with scientific publications.

In addition to presenting the Genera-Z Berbakti program, BCA consistently implements various sustainable initiatives that have a social impact through the Bakti BCA program. These various initiatives are based on the belief that empowered individuals can empower their communities and contribute to the preservation of the ecosystem, creating a sustainable cycle of positive impact. The Bakti BCA program covers various fields, including education (Bakti Pendidikan), health (Bakti Kesehatan), cultural preservation (Bakti Budaya), community empowerment (Desa Bakti BCA), and environmental conservation (Bakti Lingkungan).
