BCA Director Encourages Andalas University Students to Embrace Change

Padang, 21 August 2025 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) once again held one of its flagship Bakti BCA initiatives, BCA Berbagi Ilmu (BBI), this time at Andalas University (UNAND), Padang, on Wednesday (20/8). The program featured a public lecture themed “Dancing Beautifully with Uncertainties”, attended by 580 UNAND students.

The lecture, held at the UNAND Limau Manis Campus Auditorium in Padang, was delivered by BCA Director Lianawaty Suwono and attended by UNAND Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Syukri Arief, M.Eng, following a courtesy visit with UNAND Rector Dr. Efa Yonnedi, SE, MPPM, Akt, CA, CRGP.

BCA Director Lianawaty Suwono stated, “Uncertainty is part of our daily lives. Yet, it should not be seen as something to fear. When met with sharp insight to spot opportunities and the agility to act, uncertainty can, in fact, pave the way for growth. Just like dancing, it requires composure, courage, and sensitivity to rhythm so that we can continue to move gracefully even as the stage keeps changing.”

In her presentation, Lianawaty emphasized that global dynamics, ranging from economic volatility and geopolitical tensions to the rapid pace of digital transformation, are reshaping the world of work and business, calling for individuals to be increasingly adaptive. She encouraged students to build resilience and strategic skills early on. For BCA, the ability to consistently adapt, while upholding prudent risk management, has been a key factor in enabling the company to withstand and grow through various cycles of change since its establishment in 1957.

BCA recognizes the vital role of education in empowering students to grow beyond academic boundaries. Through BBI, BCA supports the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision by equipping the younger generation with relevant soft skills. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing human resource capacity through collaboration with educational institutions across Indonesia.

The BBI event at UNAND marked the fifth installment of the BCA Berbagi Ilmu series in 2025. Previously, BBI had been held at Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and IPB University. In addition to public lectures, the program also features the Student Banking Tour, which invites hundreds of high school students and university students across Indonesia to explore BCA branch offices. Through this activity, students gain first-hand exposure to the banking world and the broader financial industry.

Alongside BBI, Bakti BCA also launched the Genera-Z Berbakti program this year. The program encourages university students to directly contribute to the development of local tourism villages in Indonesia. By adopting a call-for-proposal concept, the program collected more than 250 submissions from 98 public and private universities, both domestic and overseas. Following a rigorous judging process, Bakti BCA selected four winning teams whose innovative ideas will be brought to life in Bakti BCA partner villages. The four winners came from Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT), Universitas Lampung (UNILA), and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).

BCA  EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility, Hera F. Haryn, emphasized that BCA Berbagi Ilmu represents the company’s concrete commitment to supporting the development of Indonesia’s young generation. “We believe that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders. Therefore, it is important for us to equip them with knowledge, values, and leadership spirit from an early stage. Through Bakti BCA initiatives, we hope to foster a lasting positive impact, not only for individuals but also for communities and the wider ecosystem.”
