Attended by Najwa Shihab, Four Genera-Z Berbakti Teams Present Final Reports to BCA: Which Team Emerged as the Best?

Jakarta, 8 August 2025 - The Genera-Z Berbakti program, organized by PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) under the Bakti BCA initiative, has entered its final stage. Teams from four different universities presented their final reports after a month-long implementation phase in Bakti BCA’s assisted villages. During the “Catatan Akhir Genera-Z Berbakti” event, which was also attended by Najwa Shihab, BCA carried out the final assessment and announced the top-performing teams.

BCA selected the top Genera-Z Berbakti teams based on four key assessment criteria, including sustainability, impact & evaluation, solutions, and the quality of each team’s presentation. Following the evaluation, BCA honored all four teams with the following rankings:

  1. 1st Place Top Team: Universitas Indonesia (UI)
  2. 2nd Place Top Team: Universitas Lampung (UNILA)
  3. Runners-up: Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT) and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM)

“We extend our congratulations to all the top Genera-Z Berbakti teams. Every participant in the program is a true champion. Over the course of more than a month, they have demonstrated their dedication in various Bakti BCA’s assisted villages. They not only succeeded in bringing their ideas to life beyond the pages, but also left a tangible and positive impact on the local communities. We are truly proud to witness first-hand the passion, creativity, and remarkable dedication of these students throughout the program. This is proof that the younger generation is indeed a true agent of change. BCA remains committed to continuing our support for them,” said BCA Director Antonius Widodo Mulyono.

The Genera-Z Berbakti program invites young people to contribute directly to the development of tourism villages in Indonesia by applying their academic knowledge in the field. Adopting a call-for-proposal concept, the program attracted over 250 proposals from 98 public and private universities, both domestic and overseas. From these, four teams were selected to proceed to the judging phase.

The four teams received training, mentoring, and funding support to implement their community service programs based on the proposals they submitted, over the course of one month in their respective assigned locations. The community service locations were:

  1. Universitas Indonesia (UI): Edelweiss Wonokitri Tourism Village, East Java.
  2. Universitas Lampung (UNILA): Teluk Kiluan Tourism Village, Lampung.
  3. Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT): Derawan Island Tourism Village, East Kalimantan.
  4. Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM): Dayun Tourism Village, Riau.

The “Catatan Akhir Genera-Z Berbakti” event also presented an inspiring session with journalist and Narasi founder, Najwa Shihab. During the session, Najwa Shihab engaged in a dialogue with Genera-Z Berbakti participants and Bakti BCA Scholarship recipients (Bakti Champions), sharing stories of their community service initiatives, whether in tourism villages, their local neighborhoods, or other locations.

“The opportunity to join this program was open to everyone. But it was those who chose to take the leap – crafting proposals, competing, persevering, and ultimately transforming ideas into concrete action in the villages – stand out as remarkable young people like you. Let this not be the end, but a milestone marking the start of a lifelong dedication to serving communities across the nation,” said Najwa Shihab.

BCA Director Antonius Widodo Mulyono concluded, “The Genera-Z Berbakti Program is a concrete testament to our commitment to fostering productive collaboration between corporations, academia, and communities. We believe that investing in youth empowerment is key to shaping a better and more sustainable future for Indonesia. We hope the success of this program will inspire and catalyze similar initiatives in the future under the Bakti BCA initiative.”
