Congratulations! 4 University Teams Win Genera-Z Berbakti, Ready to Bring Ideas and Innovations to Life in Desa Bakti BCA

Jakarta, 28 June 2025 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), through Bakti BCA, has selected four winning teams from the Genera-Z Berbakti program to implement their innovative ideas in Bakti BCA-assisted villages (Desa Bakti BCA). The winners are teams from Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT), Universitas Lampung (UNILA), and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).

Following a highly competitive selection process, four university teams have been awarded funding to implement their proposed community service programs. The four university teams will implement their initiatives over approximately one month, with the following placement allocations:

  • Universitas Indonesia: Edelweiss Wonokitri Tourism Village (East Java),
  • Universitas Sam Ratulangi: Derawan Island Tourism Village (East Kalimantan),
  • Universitas Lampung: Teluk Kiluan Tourism Village (Lampung),
  • Universitas Gadjah Mada: Dayun Tourism Village (Riau).

The Genera-Z Berbakti program empowers young people to contribute directly to the development of tourism villages in Indonesia by applying their academic knowledge and skills. Through a call-for-proposal format, the program attracted over 250 submissions from 98 public and private universities, both in Indonesia and abroad. From these, eight student groups were shortlisted to present their proposals in front of three panelists, Bakti BCA Ambassador Nicholas Saputra; Actress, Producer, & Entrepreneur Happy Salma, and Scientist and Founder of the GASING Method Prof. Yohanes Surya. Prior to their departure to the designated areas, all winning teams will participate in a bootcamp session to receive a comprehensive briefing from Bakti BCA. Upon completion of the program period, participants are required to submit an activity report to ensure the continuity of their initiatives beyond the conclusion of Genera-Z Berbakti.

“Through the Genera-Z Berbakti program, BCA strives to create a collaborative platform involving the company, students, universities, Desa Bakti BCA, and all the communities and ecosystems within it to carry out various community development initiatives. The aspirations of the younger generation are a valuable source of fresh and innovative ideas. Their involvement in this program is expected to equip them to become agents of change in building a better future for Indonesia,” concluded Hera.

Introducing the Genera-Z Berbakti Winners

The team representing UI is presenting the program “SAVANA: Sustainable Action for Village, Agriculture, Nature, and Health” in Wonokitri Edelweiss Tourism Village. This team will carry out outdoor educational activities that integrate learning with the mountain ecosystem, waste management, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles for school-aged children. They have also designed workshops on producing organic pesticides and fertilizers, bioplastics, as well as English language training for local residents.

The team from UNSRAT has designed three key programs to be implemented in the Derawan Island Tourism Village under the theme “Derawan Sehat, Derawan Hebat: Bakti Nyata untuk Negeri”. The first initiative, Bakti Mengalir, focuses on sanitation education and the implementation of a clean water filtration system using ceramic filters and UV sterilizers. The second program, Bakti untuk Bumi, promotes innovations in IoT-based waste sorting, one-step biogas production, and the creation of briquettes from coconut husk and plastic waste. Lastly, Bakti Cilik, targets children and families through stunting prevention education, digital educational games, nutrition and immunization monitoring, and cooking demonstrations for complementary feeding (MPASI).

The third team, representing the UNILA, introduces a technology-driven initiative titled “Smart Reef Initiative: Optimalisasi IoT untuk Pemetaan Terumbu Karang Buatan sebagai Sistem Peringatan Dini Tsunami di Desa Teluk Kiluan”. The program aims to harness IoT technology to strengthen tsunami early warning systems by integrating artificial coral reefs into an underwater monitoring infrastructure.

The team from UGM carries the theme “Optimalisasi Pengembangan Wisata Berbasis Digital dan Pusat Budaya Melayu melalui Peningkatan Kualitas SDM: Dari Realitas Menuju Koneksi Virtual di Desa Wisata Dayun”. They have designed a digital marketing and cultural storytelling training program to support tourism development and stimulate the local economy. The UGM team will also organize a cultural festival at the heart of their project site.

The innovative ideas and solutions put forward by the four winning teams of Genera-Z Berbakti are expected to further reinforce Bakti BCA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the sustainable development of its assisted villages across the country. Beyond the Genera-Z Berbakti initiative, BCA consistently carries out various socially impactful and sustainability-focused programs under the Bakti BCA. These initiatives are rooted in the belief that empowered individuals can uplift their communities and contribute to ecosystem preservation, creating a continuous cycle of positive and lasting impact.
