Depok, 22 April 2025 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) reaffirmed its commitment to support public health and well-being through a blood donation event, this time in collaboration with Universitas Indonesia (UI). Held at Balai Purnomo, UI Depok Campus, BCA, together with Universitas Indonesia Hospital (RSUI) and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Depok City, successfully collected 135 bags of blood through the “Give Blood, Spread Vibes,” program on Monday (21/4).
This activity represents one of BCA’s tangible contributions, particularly in the field of health, and also marks an important milestone, as it was held for the first time outside of BCA’s office environment, involving external donors, including students and the academic community of the Universitas Indonesia.
BCA EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility, Hera F. Haryn stated, “Blood donation is an initiative that is regularly carried out by the company as a form of support for people in need. We are pleased to expand the scope of this initiative by inviting Universitas Indonesia students to participate in blood donation. We hope that this activity will not only benefit the donor recipients, but also raise awareness among the donors of the importance of contributing to a positive impact on the environment surrounding them.”
This program falls under Bakti BCA, specifically the Bakti Kesehatan pillar, and serves as a continuation of the long-term collaboration between BCA and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). From 2016 to March 2025, the collaboration between BCA and PMI has collected more than 14,000 bags of blood, which have been distributed for blood needs across Indonesia.
This activity also received full support from the RS Universitas Indonesia (RSUI). The involvement of RSUI in the blood donation drive further strengthens the synergy between healthcare institutions and the education sector in building humanitarian awareness among youth and the academic community. Moreover, RSUI itself requires around 900 to 1,000 bags of blood every month.
RSUI President Director, dr. Ari Kusuma Januarto, Sp.OG., Subsp.Obginsos stated, “We welcome this collaboration, as donating blood is not only about helping others, but also about fostering a sense of solidarity and empathy within the campus community. Hopefully, in the future, more positive activities like this can be initiated together.”
In addition to the blood donation program, BCA also organized the “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” Public Lecture, which is one of Bakti BCA's flagship initiatives under the Bakti Pendidikan pillar. This initiative aligns with efforts to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the area of Quality Education. The event also featured BCA President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja and Bakti BCA Ambassador Nicholas Saputra as speakers.
“We hope that the series of activities that we have initiated can be carried out consistently and bring positive contribution to society. For the younger generation, we also hope that this activity can foster social awareness and inspire them to become individuals who can play a meaningful role for the country and the nation,” Hera concluded.
In the future, BCA plans to continue this blood donation program and public lecture to a number of other universities in Indonesia, as part of its commitment to shaping the young generation to be caring, healthy, and highly competitive.
Besides the blood donation, Bakti BCA consistently strives to make a positive contribution to society through various health-related activities. Some of Bakti BCA’s programs in the health sector include free health check-ups covering screenings for hypertension, diabetes, high blood pressure, and uric acid; as well as cataract surgery social programs, which have been regularly conducted since 2001 and have benefited 9,141 patients across various regions.
