BCA Facilitates Issuance of 2,000 Halal Certificates for MSMEs in Various Regions, Doubled in Number

Bali, 22 January 2025 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to strengthen its commitment in supporting the development of MSMEs and the halal economy in Indonesia. One of the efforts made is by holding a training program and supporting the issuance of free halal certificates for MSME players. The program, which has been running since 2023, continues in 2024 with a focus on reaching more MSMEs as beneficiaries. To close the 2024 program, BCA held an event “Handover of 147 Halal Certificates to 147 MSMEs from Bali” at the Bhumiku Convention Center, Denpasar City, on Tuesday (21/1).

With the handover of halal certificates to 147 MSMEs in Bali, BCA has facilitated a total of 1,986 free halal certificates across Indonesia. The remaining 14 halal certificates for MSMEs in several regions are in the process of being issued, and are expected to be issued in the near future. In total, there will be 2,000 halal certificates issued as a result of the BCA program. This number has approximately doubled compared to the realization of the previous year's program.

“Handover of 147 Halal Certifications to 147 MSMEs from Bali” event was attended by BCA Director John Kosasih, Head of the Bali Cooperatives and MSMEs Office Dr. I Wayan Ekadina, SE, M.Si, Assistant Deputy for Legality & Protection of Micro Businesses Ministry of MSMEs Rahmadi S.Sos., M.Si, Director of Supervision of PUJK Behavior, Consumer Education and Protection of OJK Bali Province Irhamsah, Director of Halal Registration Muhammad Djamaluddin, S.Ag., M.Pd.I, Head of Bank Indonesia Bali R. Erwin Soeriadimadja, and Head of the Halal Task Force of the Bali Provincial Ministry of Religion Office Dr. H. Syarif Hidayatullah S.S, M.Pd. In addition, representatives from BCA management also attended BCA Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn, Head of BCA Region IV Office Harijanto, BCA Commercial & SME Business SVP Andrie, Head of KCU Denpasar Hogianto, Head of KCU Kuta Ida Bagus Dwi P, and Head of KCU Singaraja Asran Karim.

BCA Director John Kosasih said, “Halal certificates have become an important necessity for MSME players in Indonesia, given that Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world. Moreover, there is a government regulation that requires all food and beverage products, as well as services related to them, to have a halal certificate by October 2026. Therefore, BCA is fully committed to supporting government programs and the development of Indonesian MSMEs, through this free halal certificate issuance support and training program. The year 2024 will be the second period of this program, and we are grateful that the number of halal certificates issued has doubled.”

A total of 1,986 halal certificates that have been issued are spread across 24 cities / regencies in 13 provinces throughout Indonesia, including:

  • 54 halal certificate in Palembang
  • 50 halal certificate in Bekasi
  • 48 halal certificate in Bogor

In collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of MSMEs, Ministry of Trade, BPJPH, banking regulators and authorities, as well as local governments, BCA provides a hands-on opportunity for MSMEs to understand the halal certification process using the self-declaration method, while providing education on the importance of halal standards in improving product quality.

BCA also provides financial service support that can help MSMEs develop further. Such support includes online account opening, online BCA credit card creation, activation of payment methods via QRIS, as well as Working Capital Loans (KUR) facilities, and other consumptive products.

This achievement is also a tangible form of the company's commitment in supporting MSMEs and the halal economy to contribute further to the Indonesian economy. BCA's MSME Halal Certification Training is part of BCA's ongoing program. In addition to organizing halal certification workshops, BCA's ongoing support for Indonesian MSMEs is also reflected through the MSME Corner, BCA UMKM Fest 2024, coaching of tourism village MSMEs, participation of 32 MSMEs at Trade Expo Indonesia and training of MSMEs Go Export. In 2024, BCA was actively involved in helping to expand the market of a number of fostered MSME players, whose potential export value reached around Rp37 billion.
