Manado, 28 October 2024 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting human capital development in Indonesia through a public lecture at Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT), Manado. The public lecture is part of the BCA Berbagi Ilmu program, one of Bakti BCA’s flagship programs in the Bakti Pendidikan (education) pillar. Since its launch in May 2023, BCA Berbagi Ilmu public lectures have reached more than 9,000 students at 14 universities across Indonesia.
This time, the BCA Berbagi Ilmu public lecture was held for the first time in North Sulawesi, involving more than 1,000 UNSRAT students. Carrying the theme ‘Survival Leadership: Facing Uncertainties,’ the public lecture was delivered by BCA Vice President Director Armand W. Hartono on Monday (28/10). The event was also attended by the Rector of Universitas Sam Ratulangi, Prof. Dr. Ir. Oktovian B.A. Sompie, M.Eng, IPU, ASEAN Eng and BCA Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn.
The theme “Survival Leadership: Facing Uncertainties” was selected for its relevance to the dynamic challenges students will encounter in the modern workforce. Armand W. Hartono highlighted the critical role of adaptive leadership, stressing its alignment with ongoing technological and industrial advancements.
“In the face of rapidly evolving challenges, Indonesia’s young generation must be prepared to thrive in a highly competitive environment. To succeed, students should cultivate leadership qualities that are both visionary and adaptable across various fields of expertise. With a solid foundation, they will be better equipped to navigate uncertainties and adapt to continuous change,” explained Armand W. Hartono.
At the same event, Armand W. Hartono shared insights on how BCA has successfully adapted to constant change. “In our journey of building BCA, we recognized that staying relevant requires continuously meeting customer needs and committing to innovation. By actively listening to customer feedback, we can provide timely and relevant banking solutions. This approach offers a valuable lesson for thriving in the workplace,” Armand W. Hartono added.
The BCA Berbagi Ilmu program, organized by Bakti BCA, reflects the bank's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting Quality Education. This initiative also aims to equip the younger generation with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive amid the demographic bonus in 2030.
In 2024 alone, BCA Berbagi Ilmu public lectures have been held at 10 universities, namely BINUS University, Universitas Diponegoro, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Sriwijaya, Universitas Udayana, Universitas Kristen Petra, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, Universitas Islam Malang, President University, and Universitas Sam Ratulangi.
Besides the public lectures, the BCA Berbagi Ilmu program also featured a Student Banking Tour that took hundreds of high school students to BCA branch offices across Indonesia. These students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about banking and the financial industry. As part of its commitment to supporting inclusive education, BCA Berbagi Ilmu also held The Beauty of Disabilities: Makeup Class with BCA. This program provides makeup training and professional certification for makeup artists from the community of people with disabilities.
“Through the Bakti BCA initiative, BCA is consistently committed to providing benefits for the nation, starting at the individual, community, and ecosystem levels. We believe that when individuals are empowered, they can significantly improve the quality of their communities. In turn, empowered communities can positively impact the sustainability of the ecosystem, creating a mutually reinforcing and interconnected cycle,” added Hera F. Haryn.
