Jakarta, 31 May 2024 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) in collaboration with the Perempuan Tangguh Indonesia (PTI) community, held a makeup class program for Sahabat Disabilitas (Deaf Friends). The program, titled “The Beauty of Disabilities: Makeup Class with BCA", is part of BCA's commitment to provide significant benefits to the community through the Bakti BCA initiative, particularly through the education pillar.
This training program is conducted to equip Sahabat Disabilitas with professional makeup competencies and skills. Hoping that the trainees can gain skills, experience and increase their competitiveness.
The series of “The Beauty of Disabilities: Make Up Class with BCA” program will be conducted in 15 sessions. Opening ceremony of the program was held by BCA EVP of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn, on Wednesday (29/5).
“Through The Beauty of Disabilities program, we want to provide an inclusive space for our friends with disabilities to hone their makeup skills professionally. We hope this program equips them with practical skills and experience, boosting their confidence in seizing new opportunities. This program exemplifies #BuktiBaktiBCA commitment to Indonesia, in supporting individual competitiveness. BCA believes empowered individuals can empower their communities,” said Hera F. Haryn.
The opening ceremony was also attended by BCA Vice President of CSR Krisbiakto Cahyo Adi, Chairman of Perempuan Tangguh Indonesia (PTI) Myra Winarko, and content creators from the deaf community, Jennifer Natalie and Yoga, who often encourage Sahabat Disabilitas or friends with disabilities (deaf friends) to work. This series of training activities will teach in-depth makeup techniques, from basic to advanced knowledge.
The series of training itself will provide a variety of materials, ranging from introduction to skin types, self-makeup practice, model makeup practice, sanitation, to MUA professional ethics and body language. In addition, the Sahabat Disabilitas will also be taught social media management skills as their promotional channel, as well as financial management skills to run a makeup artist service business effectively. BCA and PTI also involved well-known makeup artists such as Irwan Riady, social media enthusiast Asmara Wreksono, hair stylist Anda Arrusa, and the LT PRO team to provide training to the participants.
At the end of the training session, participants will also take a competency test with the aim of assessing their understanding of the material provided, as well as practicing their ability to apply it like a professional MUA. Upon successful completion of the test, participants will receive certification from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) and attend a graduation ceremony scheduled to take place at Menara BCA in early July 2024.
Chairman of Perempuan Tangguh Indonesia Myra Winarko said, “We would like to thank BCA for its commitment to improving the competitiveness of Sahabat Disabilitas in ‘The Beauty of Disabilities’ program. BCA's tangible involvement in this activity has sparked our enthusiasm to continue providing knowledge and skills to Sahabat Disabilitas, so that they have competitiveness and become independent individuals. Makeup skills have become one of the in-demand skills that can open up opportunities for Sahabat Disabilitas to become empowered and financially independent.”
“The Beauty of Disabilities: Make Up Class with BCA” is part of the BCA Berbagi Ilmu series, which is BCA's program in the field of education. Previously, BCA implemented a program that also focused on empowering people with disabilities, namely “I'm Capable”. One of the activities was the Bazaar of Works of Persons with Disabilities, which sells various works of disabilities from the Dewijaya Care, Precious One, and Precious Family communities. In addition, BCA also provided education on banking services and financial literacy to around 40 people with disabilities from several SLBs by inviting them to visit BCA KCU Thamrin.
“We consistently support and empower individuals, groups, and ecosystem preservation through various inclusive approaches. This step not only increases the nation's competitiveness and independence, but also contributes to the achievement of Indonesia's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through the series of BCA Berbagi Ilmu programs, we hope to assist Sahabat Disabilitas in being productive and becoming independent, in line with the spirit of #BuktiBaktiBCA,” concluded Hera.
