Supporting Quality Health Services, BCA Donate Operation Equipment Aid to RS Hasyim Asy'ari Jombang

Jombang, 3 Mei 2023 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) has donated a number of operation equipment, including one unit of LED Operating Lamp Dual Head and one unit of Anesthesia 2 Vaporizer to Hasyim Asy'ari Tebuireng Hospital in Jombang, East Java, which has only been operating for a month. This donation is a form of BCA's commitment to support the improvement of local community health quality, including teachers and students from the Tebuireng Islamic boarding school. The donation was directly handed over by Mr. Antonius Widodo Mulyono as BCA Director to Dr. Aria Dewanggana, MARS CEO of Hasyim Asy’ari Hospital, and witnessed by Mr. K.H. Abdul Hakim Mahfudz as Tebuireng Islamic boarding school Supervisor, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility BCA Hera F Haryn, and Head of BCA Region III Office Hendrik Sia.

BCA Director Antonius Widodo stated, "We are very proud to have the opportunity to contribute to Hasyim Asy'ari Hospital. We know that this hospital is a commitment from Tebuireng Islamic boarding school to enhance the overall welfare of the community. We are optimistic that the equipment we have donated will be useful for both the hospital and the people of Jombang, especially Tebuireng."

Hasyim Asy'ari Hospital is a type C hospital established under the auspices of Tebuireng Islamic boarding school in Jombang, East Java. The hospital was built by Tebuireng Islamic boarding school's Social Institution (LPST) and officially operated in early February 2023. Tebuireng Islamic boarding school is a prestigious educational institution where religious leaders, scholars, and statesmen in the country come to learn. KH Hasyim Asy'ari, as the founder of the school, is one of the founders of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

RS Hasyim Asy’ari is expected to fulfill the healthcare needs of teachers and students in Tebuireng Islamic boarding school, the community of Jombang, as well as the thousands of pilgrims who travel to and from Tebuireng. This small contribution from BCA is expected to further support the improvement of the community's welfare and quality of life.

BCA constantly provides support in the healthcare sector through several programs. For example, as one of the efforts to eradicate cataracts, BCA has conducted a cataract surgery social service program for 7,000 cataract-blind patients since 2001. In addition, from 2014 to 2019, BCA also provided cataract surgery equipment to the Cataract Blindness Management Section (SPBK), Indonesian Association of Ophthalmologists (PERDAMI) and several PERDAMI branches to support the eradication of cataracts.

The donation that provided to the SPBK PERDAMI Central from 2014-2019 includes a microscope (2014), surgical equipment and biometry equipment (2015), microscope (2016), Inl - 0990 - A Inami Mega - 80 Operation Microscope With X-Y Device & Automatic Foot-Switch And Accessories (2018), and Inl - 0990 - A Inami Mega - 80 Operation Microscope With X-Y Device & Automatic Foot-Switch And Accessories and cataract instruments (2019).

Meanwhile, the donation addressed to PERDAMI Jakarta branch includes Intuitive AMO Phacoemulsification Cataract Machine and supporting equipment for cataract surgery (2017), Eye Microscope & Carrying Box (2018), and Inami Operation Microscope With X-Y Device Mega L-0990A(REG) (2019). Then, the donation for PERDAMI Riau includes CataRhex 3 Portable Phacoemulsification System Machine (VS821100-1 CataRhex 3 incl. Pedal with 1 Instrument set).

As a form of BCA's concern for the health sector, BCA gives health services to the public which has helped more than 100,000 general patients and 24,000 family planning patients.

BCA also participated in the Covid-19 pandemic response by providing health facilities and infrastructure such as nine ventilators, seven syringe pumps, two isolation transports, and two mask sterilizers.

In addition to that, employees at BCA's headquarters routinely held blood donations that have resulted in more than 10,000 bags of blood. Besides blood donation activities, BCA has also provided facilities and infrastructure for blood donation since 2017 to 2021, such as one operational vehicle (2017), four units of Blood Scale & Mixer (2018), six units of Blood Scale & Mixer (2019), and one blood donation mobile unit (2021).
