BCA-Assisted Tourism Villages Boast Remarkable Achievements

Jakarta, January 24th, 2022 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BCA) is committed to contributing to the country’s development through its Bakti BCA: Desa Wisata Binaan (BCA-Assisted Tourism Village) program, part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The program has helped empower local villages, turn them into amazing tourist destinations, and maintain good economy to survive the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the bank’s consistency and commitment to the program, several BCA-assisted villages have been recognized for their remarkable achievements. 

Three BCA-assisted villages: Pentingsari Village (Yogyakarta), Tamansari Village (Banyuwangi), and the Aik Rusa Berehun Village (Belitung) were honored to receive the Green Tourism Village (Desa Wisata Berkelanjutan) Certificates from the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry. Pentingsari Village additionally received the Inspiring Independent Tourism Village (Desa Wisata Mandiri Inspiratif) Award at the 2021 Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia, a nationwide competition to find the best tourism village. Tamansari Village also won the 1st place for Digital Tourism Village at the same competition. 

 “We are extremely proud of the achievements of the villages that we have assisted so far. Our mentoring sessions and hard work to creating strategies for surviving the pandemic have yielded positive results. The awards will further push these villages to remain enthusiastic and maintain an adaptive tourism. BCA is committed to provide more training and support to further accelerate the growth of these tourism villages,” said BCA’s CSR EVP Inge Setiawati. 

The certificates and awards are expected to add to the appeal of these villages, attract more local and international tourists, and offer a better travel experience amidst the pandemic. Sustainable tourism development is also one of the government’s prioritized goals to reinvigorate tourism in Indonesia. 

Part of BCA's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Solusi Bisnis Unggul is a program that aims at fostering local MSME owners, communities, and villages with lucrative tourism and cultural potential. BCA has assisted in the development of 12 tourism villages across Sumatra, Java, and Bali. In 2021, BCA organized the 2021 BCA Desa Wisata Award, an event where tourism villages can showcase their amazing achievements despite facing pandemic challenges. 

Each BCA-assisted tourism village boasts amazing attractions. Tamansari Tourism Village (Banyuwangi) is located on the slopes of Mount Ijen and offers beautiful natural landscapes, preserved flora and fauna, and the Gandrung Dance local performance. Aik Rusa Berehun Tourism Village (Belitung) also offers an amazing vista and delicious local cuisine. Pentingsari Tourism Village (Yogyakarta) is located on the slopes of Mount Merapi, surrounded by natural beauty, and offers unique cultural experience. 

“The achievements of all BCA-assisted tourism villages are expected to prompt stakeholders to help these villages growth and push local tourism. We also hope their achievements can inspire other villages to keep developing their local tourism potential. In 2022, BCA will always be committed to providing mentoring sessions to realize our #BCAForSustainability," said Inge.
