BCA and OJK Continued SiMOLEK Campaign in Jakarta in Support of Financial Inclusion and Literacy Index Improvement

Jakarta, May 15th 2016 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to campaign for improvements in the financial inclusion and literacy index in Indonesia. This time, in collaboration with Financial Services Authority (OJK), BCA continued its operaiton of Financial Literacy Vehicle of SiMOLEK. The campaign is part of Bakti BCA’s Corporate Social Responsibility Smart Solution pillar, held in Jakarta on 23-27 May 2016.

BCA Director Armand Hartono, member of OJK Education and Consumer Protection Board of Commissioners Kusumaningtuti S. Soetiono, OJK Education and Consumer Protection Deputy Commissioner Anggar B. Nuraini, OJK Education and Consumer Protection Department Head Agus Sugiarto, OJK Education and Consumer Protection Director Horas V. M. Tarihoran, OJK Education Deputy Director Jalius, dan OJK Literacy and Information Deputy Director Greta Joice attended the event to supervise SiMOLEK operations on 15 May 2016 during Car Free Day, Jakarta. Both Halo BCA and OJK personnel were active on the field on that day.

“As part of Indonesian financial industry, BCA continues to take part in the improvement of financial literacy, especially in areas lacking proper or widespread infrastructure. This motivates BCA to continue SiMOLEK oeprations, starting from Jakarta. Through this five-day event, we hope to inspire financially-literate society, facilitate access to information, and provide financial products and services,” Armand explained.

SiMOLEK offers various features, including materials on financial education on the roles and functions of OJK and banking institutions, as well as various banking products. Various features and benefits are explained to increase public awareness on financial literacy, to push and increase public interest in using financial products and services, as well as increase public trust in using such products and services. The education program is a realization of the Indonesian National Financial Literacy Strategy Blueprint, initiated by the government and OJK on 19 November 2013.

In addition to SiMOLEK, BCA also provided Kas BCA, which offers further information on existing banking products. With this, customers can gain deeper insight into the benefits, features, rights and responsibility, risks, interest calculation and penalty, as well as other banking know-how.

BCA has previously conducted other financial literacy education programs, geared towards the families and children of National Labors (TKI). Additionally, BCA developed the student savings account SimPel; collaborated with Kidzania to develop banking edutainment program; as well as including financial literacy education program in daycares provided for children of BCA employees. In educating TKI families and children, BCA has expanded its reach from Cirebon, Indramayu, and Sukabumi all the way to Hongkong. “Hopefully, these programs will improve the rate of financial literacy in Indonesia, and bring about positive impact in the amelioration of public welfare,” Armand concluded.
