Finhacks Generated Three Best Applications in Support of eWallet-Based Application Innovation

Jakarta, April 24th 2016 - During the 2 days 1 night of Financial Technology Hackathon (Finhacks) 2016 #HackbyTheBeach, 59 teams came together to innovate eWallet-based payment applications. Applications made by semifinalists were re-tested and evaluated by a panel of juries on Sunday, April 24 2016. The juries chose 8 teams with the best application to advance to finals and present their proposed applications, then narrowed down the selections to the top three ideas. The juries announced Fariz Tadjoedin and his Chatbanking application as first place winner, Ambisnis.com and Guebayar in second, and Atom with Instapay as third place winner.

President Director BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja, BCA Executive Vice President of Strategic Information Technology Hermawan Thendean, and DailySocial CEO & Founder Mamuaya Rama were present at the highlight of the event (Finhacks) 2016 #HackbyTheBeach. Kaskus Founder Andrew Darwis, Axway API Lead Axel Grosse, Ideosource Managing Partner Edward I. Chamdani, Touchten CEO and Founder Soeharyo Anton, Setipe CEO and Founder Razi Talib, Dailysocial Head Technologist Tommy Dian P., and Labs Senior Principal Product GDP Manager Stefanie Suanita served as juries for the competition.

"We are grateful and proud of Finhacks 2016 event, as it reached its peak. The series of events ran smoothly, starting from discussions and meetings with IT communities to semifinal stage. Finhacks 2016 have also generated three best applications. We believe the winners selected in this competition have produced a wide range of financial solutions applications that shall contribute to eWallet technological advances and ultimately benefit the customers. Innovation will further facilitate the public and meet the needs of convenient and safe transactions," Jahja stated.

Jahja added that Finhacks is a tangible manifestation of BCA's great attention to the development of the digital world in the banking and finance industry, especially as technology changes rapidly. "Through this event, we want to stimulate ideas, creativity, and innovation of developers as well as the wider community to create a future payment system that can interact with BCA’s system. This commitment is aligned with the company's mission that wishes to always be by our customers’ side and meet their needs in this era of e-commerce, "said Jahja.

Finhacks was a collaboration between BCA and the application industry, with a series of activities ranging from discussions, workshops, to the final hackathon stage. The event involved banking, media, IT communities, developers, experts, and e-commerce figures in encouraging the advancement of digital payment system innovation in Indonesia.

This idea first appeared a year ago when Director BCA Armand W. Hartono met with developers at an IT community event. At the meeting, developers expressed the difficulties in interacting with bank payment systems. A year later, BCA prepared API (Application Programming Interface) to be used by developers to interact with BCA’s system.

Applications generated by winners, which will contribute to eWallet technological advancement, hopes to benefit customers and meet the needs of safe and convenient transactions.

Second place winner Ambisnis.com with their Guebayar app and third place winner Atom with Instapay app posed together for a pictures. Finhacks was a concrete manifestation of BCA’s attention on digital developments in banking and financial industry. BCA aimed to stimulate ideas, creativity, and innovation of developers and communities to create the future of payment system. The event hosted discussions, meetings with IT communities, and the final stage of the competition.
