Yogyakarta, March 19th 2016 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to support the sustainability of quality tourism in Indonesia through Bakti BCA program. This time, BCA fulfills its commitment through the inauguration of Wukirsari Village as one of BCA foster tourism villages. The inauguration was conducted by BCA Independent Commissioner Cyrillus Harinowo, BCA Corporate Secretary Inge Setiawati, Imogiri Sub-District Chief Sigit Subroto and Wukirsari Acting District Chief R. Eko Wiyanto, and witnessed by Bantul Vice Regent Abdul Halim Musleh.
"BCA actively mentors communities to further develop potential of the area. Hopefully, these efforts can open up business opportunities and create jobs for local residents. One community that has BCA’s active support is Wukirsari village officials. After conducting several assistance and training, today we inaugurate Wukirsari village as a BCA foster tourism village," Cyrillus explained.
UNESCO named Wayang puppet as one of the world’s cultural heritage on November 7, 2003. Wayang integrates elements of craftsmanship and culture with a narrative, represents beautiful and valuable heritage, and reflects solidarity, as well as spirituality and harmony with nature. Until now, Wayang continues to grow and remains true to its mission statement, providing a means of entertainment, enlightenment, education, and communication. "BCA continues to develop ways to preserve the culture and art of Wayang. One of the efforts put forth by BCA to ensure this tradition lives and grows in Indonesian society is by fostering Wayang tourist village, Wukirsari," Cyrillus continued.
Wukirsari village is known as one of the tourist destinations in Yogyakarta for Wayang arts and performance. Visitors both from Indonesia and abroad, such as Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Japan, had studied the art of Wayang in this village. The village offers activities, such as Wayang making, playing the gamelan, watching Wayang shows, and living in Wukirsari Wayang craftsmen residences. The rapidly expanding tourism industry in Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta, requires Wukirsari village to develop its tourism potential in order to meet the needs of the tourism market. Through this training program, BCA hopes to optimize Wukirsari Wayang Tourism Village potentials by supporting it as one of BCA foster tourism villages.
In addition to the inauguration, BCA also held a variety of activities, such as competition, Wayang shows, and free medical treatment to Wukirsari residence. BCA also provided free medical treatments for residents of Pentingsari Tourism Village on the previous day, Friday (18/3). "BCA realizes that the equal distribution of health services can support community activities in Wukirsari. A healthy body is an asset to develop the potential of individuals, so that people can effectively manage Wukirsari village tourism in order to continue to grow and attract tourists from across the country," Cyrillus added.
With the inauguration of Wukirsari village as a BCA foster tourism village, BCA’s commitments extend beyond the provision excellent banking services that meet the needs of customers to answer other demands, such as the development of the tourism sector. BCA donations are extensions of BCA customers who have entrusted BCA to serve their various banking transaction needs.
