Yogyakarta, February 20th 2016 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) returned its attention to the development of educator quality in Indonesia. To show this support, BCA hosted an Educator Seminar with the theme “Developing Your Personal Impact and Influence.” The teaching seminar is part of BCA’s 59th Anniversary activities in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Bakti BCA Smart Solution pillar.
Head of CSR BCA Sapto Rachmadi, Head of BCA Main Branch Office Yogyakarta Saswito Tjoe, Head of Education, Youth, and Sports Department Gunung Kidul District Sudodo, SMAN 1 Principal Karangmojo Aji Pramono attended the event at SMAN 1 Karangmojo, Yogyakarta, Saturday (20/02). Communication practitioner Moh Subagio was the keynote speaker at two seminar sessions.
“In its 59th year, BCA wishes to show its commitment to our nation’s advancement by developing the quality of our educators. We cannot den that teachers are our students’ guardians at school, who are not only responsible for teaching materials from the curriculum, but for nurturing positive character in students. The dynamic young generation provides challenges teachers to innovate their teaching styles, so that the materials remain relevant and can be well digested by the students,” Sapto explained.
Moh Subagio added that the teaching seminar is hoped to inspire educators to have a new perspective in the education system in Indonesia, which itself has progressed rapidly in concurrent with the times. Educators are not only responsible for intellectual capacity, but also to nurture our younger generation to be ready for competition in the future. In carrying out this responsibility, teachers need to update their knowledge and skills to be able to work effectively and professionally. Additionally, educators must be aware of their responsibility to adjust the new 21st century student profile.
The educator seminar was well received by the teachers. Previously, “Developing Your Personal Impact and Influence” teacher seminar was held in Serang on 3 February 2016 and Lampung on 9 February 2016. In addition to the seminars, BCA’s 59th anniversary CSR programs included education for academically excellent students at SMPN 1 Ponjong, SMPN 1 Semanu, and SMPN 1 Karangmojo. This financial literacy education was previously presented to students at BCA foster schools at Serang and Lampung.
Bakti BCA foster school students at SDN 1 Banyubening, SDN Kwangen, SDN 1 Ponjong, SDN 2 Ponjong, SDN 2 Candi Baru, and SDN 3 Semanu at Gunung Kidul Yogyakarta have also received healthcare education on Friday (19/2). Similar events were previously provided to BCA foster school students in Serang and Lampung. On top of these activities, BCA’s CSR had visited BCA foster village at Goa Pindul on Wednesday (17/2) to provide free medical treatment for the villagers, and will provide a similar facility to other BCA foster villages at Batu Loceng, Lembang Bandung, Wukirsari Yogyakarta, Pentingsari Yogyakarta, and Tamansari Banyuwangi.
“The public is an inseparable part of BCA’s existence. This is why we embrace all of our fellow Indonesians in our celebration of BCA’s 59th anniversary. We would like to maintain our success in conjunction with greater welfare for the communities around us,” Saswito Tjoe concluded.
